CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar” warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

At times, when the vehicle slows down from a high speed to a slow speed, the vehicle experienced a hiccup, more like a jolt. It feels almost like someone bumps your car. Very scary and annoying.

grinding and winding noises and jumped out of gear going down a road on a sunday. Had to switch the car off to get it to go back in gear .

Could have been killed if i was in heavy traffic. Worst vehicle i have ever had. I was so lucky it was a back road with little traffic. And it hapened on a bridge.

I have only had my Edge for two weeks, as I bought it used with 36K miles. The first week, it drove as expected. However, I have been experiencing some transmission problems lately. Occasionally, it will jerk when shifting out of first gear. I haven't had an issue with any other gear than first - it only does this when I am stopped and then begin to accelerate. This is coupled with a problem that I experienced last night when the vehicle would not shift out of first gear (it was stuck) for about a half mile. Something is definitely wrong and has me concerned. I will take it to the dealership this week. It will be interesting to see their response. I'm hoping they will fix the issue because I really like the Edge.

Love the ford edge - but I am scared to drive it - it stalled in the middle of traffic, it just goes limp, wrench appears on dash board. I am scared of being rear ended on the highway and ending in the hospital seriously injured. The car has been to the services center three times since Nov. 2011 and I took it back in yesterday Dec. 20, 2011. ( I hope this doesn't become a Toyota like problem). Service center have not been able to give me a proper diagnosis, I feel like I am taking me and family lives in my hands when I get behind the wheel of this car.

Check engine light came on. Took car to Beford Ford. Mechanic drove care and checked codes. He stated that he discovered multiple misfires and reset and was confident that would fix the problem. Spent over one hour sitting at dealership.

September 7 – Car continues to feel as if transmission is slipping.

September 8 – Car continues to feel as if transmission is slipping. I called dealership and will take the car back in again tomorrow.
