CarComplaints.com Notes: There was plenty of hope that Ford would fix their “door ajar” warning light issue for the 2014 model year. This widespread problem has caused the previous 3 model years to stay on top of defect trend lists.

So far, the 2014 Edge doesn't share the poor reputation of prior model years.

I can't understand what made the rear window shatter. The car was parked in my garage I had been using the rear defroster before parking for the night. Maybe it over heated. The entire window shattered sometime overnight with glass going everywhere including the inside of the tail gate.

Bought my Ford Edge, brought it home and parked it in the garage. Went out next day to go someplace and the back window was blown out. Glass everywhere. Called the dealership and they said...gee we are sorry. Called insurance company...only had insurance for 2 days...they had someone come out and replace window but not for a couple of days. Because my insurance is new...had to pay over $400 which will be reimbursed except for $100.00. I am just glad no one was around because glass was everywhere. What a mess. Took over an hour to clean it all up.

2014 Edge back window blow out! No apparent reason. Wondering how many people have experienced this as well.

This morning when I turned the ignition switch the rear window simultaneously shattered without apparent cause. Then when I brought it to the local dealer and they submitted photos Ford denied coverage. Two months ago I bought this vehicle for forty thousand dollars and after 2000 miles the window shatters through no fault of my own and to fix it I am out $500.00. To make it even more unpleasant, the service people barely taped a thin piece of plastic and electrical tape on the rear end and sent me on my way. I am furious.

Nothing hit my window to cause an impact resulting in a break to the glass. The temperature was twenty-eight degrees this am. When I turned the ignition it caused the rear defrost to turn on. Perhaps there is a problem with that? Extremely disappointed in Ford as a whole right now and I'm still processing the terrible service at the dealership.
