Super dangerous! This has happened three times. All random. At first I thought maybe I didn’t click the belt all the way. When it happened to my 15 year old daughter, it pissed me off!! What if we were in a wreck? Now I don’t want anyone in the passengers seat!! Fix this Ford. This is crap!

F-150 Supercrew XLT 4.6L V8

I hardly use this truck. I call it my scout truck as I only use it for boy scouts. I'd estimate less than 2500 miles per year over the last four years. Recently, while driving the truck, the driver's seat belt just randomly disconnects. There is no pattern to when it disconnects except only when the truck is moving. I can reconnect it and pull on it and it seems secure. But then it may disconnect again later.

I suspect the problem is that there are springs inside the push button assembly that push the button upward to engage the buckle. (You push the button downward to disengage the buckle) Over time, I think the springs have become weak and are no longer powerful enough to support the weight of the buckle. Gravity and vibration from the moving truck allow the button to work its way downward until the buckle becomes disengaged.

As you can imagine, this is a very dangerous condition. I hope Ford will take it upon themselves to fix this before a real tragedy occurs.

It required that I put a date and mileage when the problem started but I have no idea. The seat belt will constantly come unlatched by itself. I have to reconnect it while driving. Sometimes this happens multiple times in a short distance. I hope that it doesn't fail me if I really need it.
