I bought the truck and second day lifter noise started and engine light came on just after getting truck inspected by state facility. Mechanic hasn't gotten back to me yet with price and time I'm out of a truck or transportation.

Scan came up with timing/head/lifter which is gonna be costly..........

Engine light came on and truck was sputtering down the hwy and eventually was undriveable as engine locked up. Unable to drive home, parked and left it, had to have it towed to a repair shop and paid $5,955.68 for an entirely new engine. I have all parts receipts. How do I get a refund of costs?

F-150 XLT 5.4L

I bought this 2004 Ford F150 used for $13,000 roughly 8 months ago. I have had spark plugs done twice and with this problem I'm having now, dealer recommends I have them done again, along with a few coils, well he said another full tune up. Tried the cvt solenoids too, got them for about $150. Was told that it would fix the constant ticking noise the engine has but nope, didn't do anything. ($$$ lost on account of how much oil has been wasted and amount of spark plugs that broke, which i was charged more for and charged for it being towed to the car shop)

It was leaking oil when I bought it, didn't know till the second oil change and did it again and again to try and keep the oil level right. couldn't tell where it was leaking, neither could the car shops I took it to. I replaced the transmission for leaking then going out on me ($1,600). It was valve cover seals and leaking from the back of engine ($500). The misfire like problem i have now, i was told it could be the fuel pump or gas module. Gas module, had broke in half because of corrosion had that done a month after i got the truck. Another $200-$300 (losing count of money spent. This truck has left me on the side of freeways, long dirt roads, and busy roads walking. This truck could have very well caused me a personal accident. Risking me being hit by other cars and stuck walking for miles with no one around but the woods and sticks in the middle of the night. I have been saving my money for a very long time working on my credit and looking forward to buying a house. This truck has taken everything from me.

Now i am broke. All my money gone along with the rest of plans for buying a home. Ford needs to man up and take responsibility like all troubled 04 ford f150 owners have been doing, spending their money to make things right. Fighting to keep their credit a float and head above water. Ford should be in debt, NOT THE PEOPLE! IT IS ONLY RIGHT THAT YOU TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND START ACTING LIKE AN ADULT AND RECALL THIS ENTIRE ENGINE! After buying this ford, the problems have not stopped rolling in. In about 7-9 months this truck has costed me more then what i spent on it. And now looking at all these misfire codes 5,6,7and 8, ignition coil, int cam position timing, system too lean bank 1 and 2. The damn thing may as well be or need to be rebuilt on top of that.

What more does Ford want from us? We have families that need our attention, not your trucks. They have put me in a hole and stuck with a truck that has all of my money and even if i where to sell it after fixing everything i still won't have the money back that i spent on it. I would be more satisfied with putting a brick on the pedal and letting it drive itself into a pool of gas and tossing a match into it.

We don't know the damage yet. But engine light came on then lost power. So far auto repair guy says there's sludge in the oil pan.

But first (without doing a diagnostic test) they gave us false hope saying it probably just needs all filters replaced and oil changed. He did all that before test driving because there's no tags .. Bla bla bla. Says before he can test drive it needs to be legal. We haven't driven the truck for about 9 months.

So now we have to get insurance so they do the inspection & tags. So cha Ching...$$. Meanwhile he ask if we want him to fix the window while we're getting insurance. Okay, (thinking we just saved a bunch of money from no major engine repair) we said yea, fix the window ($400+). Now it's all ready to go! Legal! Tags! Insurance! Window fixed! Oil and all filters changed! They test drive it and ... oh no .. NOW they see a bigger problem. Now it's (probably) sludge in the oil pan!

Now we wait again. Please keep your fingers crossed!

Started out as minor jerk increased each week replaced the coils ran like a champ for two days. Now shows #1 #4 #8 mis-firing now will not pull a load at all found out about the plugs before I made the mistake of changing them myself I have been told they have a replacement one piece plug they can use ( don't know this for a fact} I do know I should be able to replace them myself but instead I will have to pay ford motor to replace them $700 - $900 This should be fords cost to correct on a recall

F-150 FX4 5.4L Trition V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 112,000 miles

We brought a 2004 f150 fx v8 from a dealer in nov 2010 and a year later we have nothing but problems. First the next day we went back to the dealer shop the truck sounded like a diesel and it turn out the be the idel pulley- so that got fix under warrenty. So we got the oil change the same month we bought the truck and the lube place said it look like it has never been change and all the fluild need change to. So i called the dealership and they said they service the truck before we got it. ( Ya RIGHT). So next oil change we change all the fluids. Couple of month later now the engine light is on so far we have a new battery, light on again new alternator, light came back on got a tune up which we were told at garage that we had two spark plugs that were not even the right plug for this truck. (I guess if you service the vehicle you may of seen that) but anyway light back on said it could be a cam senors but no it was cam chain tensienor, got truck back one day later and guess what engine light is back on. Hey Ford Do you think there maybe something wrong with Your engines.

New Battery-90.00

Alternator-300.00

Update from Mar 6, 2012: new tune-up 400.00

now the engine is still running rough so now it's the timing chain tensionor- 1100.00

after that a day later the engine light came back on now it's the catalyic converter, UGH, it never ends.
