F-150 XLT 5.4L V8

I have been battling misfire issues for the last 4 years with this truck. Around 80,000 miles it began cutting out while going up slight inclines around 1,500 rpm. It got worse and worse over time, to the point the fuel that wasn't burned off heated up my left cat and it became plugged.

Over the years I've had several mechanics look at it, many fouled spark plugs replaced. We're attacking coil packs and fuel injectors trying to rule that out.

I know 4 other guys just in my small town with very similar problems. It's quite frustrating, and we're all big time Ford enthusiasts. This is so bad it makes me not want to buy Ford ever again. I really wish they'd address this head on and come up with a solution. Talking to Ford mechanics the company realized they had a problem in 07 and made some modifications to the fuel system. Wish they would have recalled, or something.

Last - I've also read about people having issues with the windows. Right now I'm at about 180,000 miles and have had to get the window fixed 3 times now. Frustrating!

I thought I'd own this truck until it puked, but now after owning it since brand new in 06, I'm going to be fixing it as well as I can, and trading it in. Sucks for the next guy, but I can't continue to stick money into this pit of a truck. (kills me even typing this, but it's true...Shame on you Ford.)

F-150 FX4 5.4L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 109,000 miles

2006 F-150 FX4 began missing while in OD at about 55 MPH, acceleration to over 60 and jerking was gone. Recently, the truck has died while turning a corner or when letting off the gas before coming to a complete stop. Now it occurs when braking to stop. The vehicle was low on power steering fluid so I added fluid, and truck no longer stalls while turning, still stalls when coming to a stop.

F-150 Supercab 5.4L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 97,000 miles

Truck stalls while driving when I let off the gas, as to coast to a stop light, or turning in to a driveway. Luckily, I've only noticed it at slow speeds, 25 mph or less. As long as I keep even slight pressure on the gas pedal or am braking, it doesn't happen. But if I lift my foot of the pedal for just a few seconds, it will stall out. It usually takes two times of cranking the key to get it re-started after the stall.
