rear window shattered

Was driving to work, heard a loud pop and looked back to see the passenger side rear window had shattered. I don't recall turning on the rear defrost. Didn't need it in the middle of the summer. Called my Ford dealer I got the truck from and sure enough there are no recalls. Their price is $557. No gonna pay that!!!

Wetzel Ford Richmond, Indiana sold me the truck with a bent rim. After a long argument they fixed it, back in February, I had the front right brake caliper freeze up burning up the rotor and hose. That was $700 to fix. My real seal on the rear axle has started leaking. And now the window. Last Ford I'll ever buy....

Did not really understand what happened. Loud noise then look back and see shatter passenger side of rear window shattered.

Had it fixed, only to experience the same thing again only on the driver side rear window. 5-3-2015.

Have been a Toyota family for over 20 years, bought a Ford because I like the King Ranch Package,

NOT ANY MORE LOOKING TO GO BACK TO TOYOTA. WILL NOT BUY A FORD TRUCK FOR SON EITHER. HE TURNS 16 YEARS OLD THIS YEAR.

UNFORTUNATE FORD DOES NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT.

My vehicle was in park and I was about to get out of it and the back window just shattered. No reason at al.. There goes another $125 and 5 hours of not having my truck. When is Ford going to start paying for these shattered back windows?

Happened here too! We even have a cap on truck so nothing can really hit it or damage it due to cap.

Spring morning, 63 F, 4 minutes after starting up and turning on window/mirror defroster, sipping coffee on way to work. Like everyone else, makes you duck hoping to miss the bullet from the gunshot. After seeing the shatter in the window, I figured it was due to the heating element imbedded...since I have witnessed all my seat heaters burnout. What a pain...Ford wants to document the cases, but they don't use the documentation to educate their workers. Everyone just wants to be nice, but not have to physically do anything for anyone. I'm certain I will be changing myself, last thing I want to do is support their "lack of service" department. Obama motors...and Chrysler....Ford lack of service....I guess its time to try Toyota. What the heck is wrong with Americans?

I have had this truck since December of 09' with no problems. This morning I go out and get in my truck and notice the passenger side of the rear sliding window is busted. Last night going to the gym, we had a winter storm move through that day so my truck was covered. I hopped in and started the truck and turned on the defrost and rear defrost while I started to de-ice my truck. When I got to the gym, as I was walking in, I heard a loud pop. Looked around and didn't notice anything (9:00 at night) went on and worked out.

Found out this has been a issue with a bunch of 2010-2012 Ford Raptors and other F-150 models alike. This should have been taken care of and addressed years ago. Also now of course the warranty is out and I'm probably gonna be stuck paying the bill for something the should have been fixed by them. Ford is really letting me down here.

Was planing on buying a new 2017 when they come out, but Toyota may have a new costumer.

Just minding my own business driving down the highway 200 km into on a 2000 km trip when the passenger side of my rear sliding window shattered. After meeting the first 18 wheeler on on a single lane highway, a section of the shattered window blew out. I always have a pocket knife with me, I just happened to have some duct tape and a card board box so I patched up the shattered action of the window and carried on.

After reading all the other similar complaints I thought I would add mine to the list. It's obvious that Ford has an issue that they are ignoring, which is disappointing, because other than this flaw the truck has been awesome.

2010 F-150 Super Crew. Drives side rear window popped really loud. Noticed it broke somehow. Temp was about 0. Now leaking inside. Will also silicone 3rd brake light to round out repairs. Won't bother with dealer, they are a joke.

On the way to work, foggy morning, turned the rear defroster. Thinking to myself, it doesn't seem like that thing is working very well (no horizontal lines where the heater strips are). 5 minutes later POW sounded like a gunshot. Passenger side rear window shattered. From a quick web search it is apparent this is a big problem for the 2010 F150. Insurance should cover it, but it's still a pain in the ass to take time off from work and get it replaced.

Ford City in Champaign, Illinois told me there was nothing they could do about this and I should go to a glass repair shop. The glass repair shop told me to call the Ford Dealer, as this has happened numerous times in the past and it would run about $1000 to replace the glass. I think I'm done with Fords and I will definitely never go to Ford City in Champaign, Illinois and neither will anyone I ever talk to. Really pissed off about this because I was doing nothing but driving down the road. The girl at Ford City accused me of hitting something. This was in a drop down on this complain page so I'm not the first to complain about this

Was warming truck up, had rear defrost on and the back passenger window shattered! A friend told us of complaints he had read online so I checked it out.. Called our Mace Ford dealership to see about recall and they basically told me I was on my own and they did not do repairs. It is going to cost $750.00. I'm keeping my paperwork on repair and hope a recall happens.

Bought a used 2010 Ford F-150 FX4 extended cab in June of 2014. Love the truck. However, our weather for the last week has been dipping down into the below zero range, which is nothing unusual for Wisconsin.

Wednesday, I took the truck to the bank, which is less than a mile from my home. I warmed it up and turned on all the window defrosters, even the back window, which is a power slider. My total round trip was only 15 minutes until I returned home. I pulled up in the driveway and went to shut off the engine and BANG, it sounded like a gunshot. My right ear is still ringing from the sound. I looked and to my disappointment one of the sections in the rear window had shattered. Freaked me out.

Took the truck to the place where we bought it and they said that they have had 3 complaints already for Ford F-150s windows shattering this winter. Not under warranty I'm told. Looking at all the complaints out here, I assume there are defective windows. We had a new one installed today at $575.00. Not happy. I have a deductible on my insurance of $500.00, so I am only going to get back $75. The whole rear window had to be replaced, as it is electric and it has the heating coils in it.

Do you think Ford will stand behind their faulty rear windows? Anyone have any luck with contacting Ford? The new window I guess has a lifetime warranty on it. Still ticked that I have to fork over $575 when I pick up the truck today......Any feedback on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Driving home from work. Heard a loud bag which sounded like someone hit the vehicle with pellet gun. Got home and noticed that passengers side of the rear sliding window was shattered. I should mention that the rear defroster had been working intermittently. I had the defroster on when this incident happened. I believe it had something to do with malfunction of defroster.

Ford should bear the responsibility for this unusual, never happened before, incident which is repeating itself nationwide on the SAME window pane in the electric rear window of the F-150. Recurrence is the "telling" issue relative to this inherent characteristic in the slider. Obviously, too much heat is being discharged to the system and the "heat soak" to a frosted glass is causing it to shatter. The electrical input must be on that side, haven't checked it our internally yet, but that would be my hypothesis due to that panel being the affected one. Ford needs to upgrade their glass to a higher degree of strength when heated. The cost is prohibitive and the inconvenience intolerable. Who the hell would want to pay a restaurant bill for a bad meal??? This is definitely a design flaw, and unless they are willing to bear this cost, I, and I'm certain, many other Ford lovers will buy elsewhere next time. Henry would be embarrassed by Bill not taking ownership of this situation for loyal customers. These are the beginnings of a business ethic gone bad, too many of these occurring Mr. Ford. Perhaps you should sell another "marque" like Jaguar/Land Rover to Mr. Tata!!

Same ol story as other F150 owners, defroster shattered rear window dealer wont warranty and no recall! Finding out this happens very often, why no recall?? Trying to get dealership to at least split cost with me, we'll see not very optimistic. May be last Ford I own.
