Unknown if takata recall or other air bag issue. I am investigating officer not vehicle owner. Observed that post moving 2 car intersection crash and airbag deployment, B-pillar started on fire, melting seat belt, most of B-pillar and parts of curtain and side airbags. Fire put itself out. Owner was not injured but concerned. Heat appeared to have melted seat belt through, air bags were burnt. Case#M18-1676

April 26, 2017 the following components malfunctioned simultaneously when returning to truck from shopping: Running boards would not deploy or retract; airbag(s) warning light on dash was lit; climate control system, both heat and cooling was out of service; front windows would not respond to controls; seat comfort functions did not work; mirror adjustment and retraction inoperable; back-up system and warnings inoperable; cross traffic system fault; blind spot warning error. Wiring harnesses replaces and picked truck up May 12th 2017. That evening while driving with a trailer, a message appeared concerning the trailer being disconnected. That disappeared and then the following happened: Warning messages began to appear on the driver's display screen saying, 'your vehicle is not in park', 'check manual', 'downhill assist not operational'. then the lights went out, the truck lost power (the engine was still running), it shifted into downhill assist, front windows didn't work, passenger seat moved by itself, driver's seat began to go back as if the truck was turned off, then it returned to driving position, the sync display went dead and came back on, the driver's display shut down and came back on. All these things continued to repeat as bells sounded and I limped 5 miles back to my son's house. Same problems exhibited when son took truck to the dealer the following am without trailer. Another harness replaced. Picked up truck and drove without incident about 800 miles. When starting truck, trailer message reoccurred. There was no trailer attached. Two days later after being parked, all the 1st set of failures reoccurred. Running boards, ac-heat, air bags, windows, mirrors, cross traffic system, blind spot warning were all inoperable.

Driving the Ford F150 (V6 ecoboost) on a city street (35 mph) it has failed at random times (I've now seen this issue more than 3 times) usually with 3 major failures. These 3 failures (1) engine, transmission, and emissions 2) brakes & suspension 3) restratins & driver assistance) cause the truck to transition to 'limp' mode which can actually be just as hazardous. If I'm turning onto a road with a 55+ mph speed limit I need to accelerate but if this system fails, along with the restraints & driver assistance, this could be a very dangerous and life threatening situation. The reason why is that the restraints & driver assistance goes off now disabling my airbags, etc. And if I now get hit (because now I'm in limp mode going about 7 mph) I have lost a great deal of 'built-in' protection without the airbags. Translate that to driving on a highway and encountering this situation and you can see that loss of life is not out of the question. I've taken the truck back to Ford for the warranty work and they say they believe it's an electronic throttle body controller that has gone bad and needs to be replaced but right now it's at least 3 weeks before they can get a replacement part. Compounding this issue is that Ford had issued an internal recall for V8's built at the same plant as my V6 ecoboost truck for the same type of issue.

During a accident where I rear ended another vehicle that was either stopped or at a very slow roll on a off-ramp (traffic was backed up from a wreck further up), neither my airbags or my seat belt restrained me. The result being me hitting the steering wheel with my chest and abdomen. I had bruising on my lower abdomen and extensive injuries to my back, neck and hips. The chiropractor hopes to have me back to 80-90% of "normal" (how I was before the wreck) within 2-2 1/2 months. I estimate my speed upon impact to be between 50-60 mph.

While driving brand new 2015 F150xlt supercrew with 6.5ft bed I was full stopped about 20ft behind a car that was waiting for another car to turn as I looked up in rear view mirror saw another truck coming behind me down hill at approximatley 45mph the speed limit on the state route 2 lane just before entering town. I heard him lock up his brakes and slam into the back of my truck pushing me 15 to 20ft slamming me into the SUV in front of me hitting me at dead stop square on in the back driving me square on into vehicle infront of me, no airbag ever deployed I was thrust agianst the steering wheel in a snapping action. The impact was so forcefull it moved the supercrew back seat from the down position to the full upright and locked in place position agianst the back of the cab. The truck was only 6 days old with 370 miles on it. With that impact front and back I would think airbags would have deployed. The force of the impact bent the frame down in the back and bent the frame up in the front see the attached pictures.
