A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

driving home from work on the turnpike and accelerated to pass a semi and then every light on the dashboard lit up and a cloud of smoke behind me and coasted to a stop. No warnings or anything prior to this, had it towed to dealership and informed that it was blown. changed oil regularly and always with synthetic. Still waiting on solution as it is labor day weekend and hurricane dorian has shut everything down .

F-150 2WD Super Cab 2.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 53,000 miles

Second week in August 2018 the "wrench" light came on in my 2016 F-150 2.7 L Super Cab with 51,000 miles. I took it to the local dealer (not the dealer I purchased the vehicle from). I was told that diagnostic tests revealed that the "heat-sensor" (which I now know is gobble-speak for 'engine cooling system') was out. It took a week to get the parts, but, they repaired it & had it back to me. I did not get a loaner vehicle.

Less than 100 miles on the road, the "engine" light (not the dreaded 'wrench') came on. Vehicle ran as if it was about to run out of gas.

Took it back to the same dealer. Diagnostic test = same problem. They fixed it & test drove it them selves. Did the same thing. I was told they needed to replace cylinder heads. They gave me a loaner vehicle this time. It took over two weeks to get the parts, but I got the truck back.

Drove less than 100 miles & "Low Oil Pressure" light illuminates at 80 MPH on the Interstate. I have to drive a few more minutes to find a place to pull over. I am able to coast into a Truck Stop, where the vehicle now sits waiting for a tow back to the dealer.

I have found Ford Technical Service Bulletin - TSB 17-0007 - authorizing Cylinder head replacement &/or Long block assembly replacement, specific for F-150's in my model's year & manufacturing date. The saga continues
