I Bought this 2017 F150 in January of 2018 with 13,000 miles on it and have had it in -20 degree weather last year and early this year and have never had any issues with the locks/latch not catching and keeping the door closed. However, very first cold day in November 2019 it was only 31 degrees and the driver side door would not close! the latch was not catching and keeping the door closed. I worked the latch back and forth with a screwdriver several times and worked the lock open and closed with the key fob and still wouldn't latch shut. The only way to keep the door closed is to get in the vehicle and hold the door closed and lock it with the key fob. Later in the day when it warms up a little the door works fine. All other doors close fine its only the driver side door. It has been one week of freezing temps and every morning I am having issues with the driver side door not closing. As I have seen on this site and others this is a common issue dating back to 2015 with a recall on older models and a lawsuit to boot and it is still an issue with the F150's. I tend to take longer trips and highway drive often in the colder months and I am afraid this door will open while driving as it is not closing properly. Ford needs to come out with a new door latch that works before someone get seriously injured or dies! Not a good thing.

Bought my truck in May 2017 and just this past weekend we got a big snow and freezing temps. Door latch froze shut had to crawl threw passenger side to get in. Once I had it running for a while I got the door to open but would not latch back shut! Had to keep trying for a while and finally had to use some deicer to get it to free up. 1 Day later getting ready to go to work same thing and the next. Think it's BS and this should not be an issue with a new truck!

Driver side door latch freezes in cold weather and the door will not shut. The dealer has repaired it 3 times according to Fords' fix instructions but the problem has not been resolved.Even after warming the truck for 30 minutes the door would not shut.

For the first time for this truck (bought it in spring) the outdoor temperature dropped to -11C. And I have discovered this morning that the driver's door power lock was not working. 3 other doors work...for now, at least. Managed to unlock the door from the inside. Started to research and it seems to be a widespread disease.

I bought my new F150 in July. It was built in KC in early 2017 so it falls outside the recall notice associated with door latches. I heard about the recall in the September/October timeframe and wasn't worried as my truck fell outside the dates. Stupid me!!!!! The first freeze of winter came and as I went outside to head to work in a balmy 25 degrees, my door unlocked and opened, but it couldn't be closed. The mechanism was stuck in the open position. There I was...stuck at home at 4 o'clock in the AM with a door that wouldn't close. I grabbed some dry film silicone lube and sprayed the crap out of it. After multiple attempts to get the door to engage, locking it with the key fob...it finally did. I then climbed in and held the door shut and locked it from the inside after starting it up. I kept my fingers crossed the door wouldn't fling open on the way. After a 30 minute commute and stopping in the parking garage...the temperature was about 38 degrees and the door worked fine. This problem has resurfaced every time the temperature drops below freezing.

I've called Ford and spent time online with their customer service people. As one would expect, Ford denies any issue with my vehicle and says my local dealership needs to diagnose and repair any door issues.

TOTAL BS!!!!! The door latch in my truck is the same as in the recalled trucks, but Ford will not replace them via recall. I need to video each one as it happens or leave the truck at the dealership during a hard freeze so they can verify.

The entire reason I have a truck is to haul the family ski and snowboard gear along with the dogs back and forth during the winter...my bad for buying another Ford.

Update from Feb 14, 2018: I took my F150 into the dealer in January 2018 and they performed the TSB which meant they removed the door panels, blew the latches and mechanisms with compressed air and lubed them. I took the truck back after 2 days and assumed everything would be fine...

Well having no freezing temperatures I had no way to verify the fix. On the morning of 2/13 with a temperature of 28 degrees F. Both rear doors had issues...the driver's side wouldn't open at all and the passenger side opened but would not close. This problem occurred on Monday 2/12 as well when it was 30 degrees out. On Monday 2/12 I was unable to use my truck as I couldn't get the back doors to reengage. Once the truck warmed up later in the afternoon the doors would close. Tuesday 2/13 I was able to get one of the doors to reengage after 30 minutes of messing with it.. I suppose it was fortunate the other door was frozen shut so I could drive it back to Sound Ford.

I've called and contacted Ford Corporate a couple of times and have received the cold shoulder as my truck was manufactured after the recall date and according to them I guess I shouldn't have any issue with a freezing door handle or latch and it must be some other problem. I have a case number with them.

I returned the truck to my local dealer on 2/13 and they removed all 4 door panels. My truck has all of the recall elements/new design installed....as it was manufactured in April of 2017...yet my doors are freezing!!!!!!

It appears the new Ford design and recall fix isn't 100% effective!!!!

This issue is of great concern to me as it renders my truck useless in weather below freezing...which is one of its main purposes (to transport the family to the mountains for snowboarding). Additionally I have to worry about the weather locally just so I can get to work. I suppose I am lucky that this winter has been mild in that we haven't experienced a prolonged cold spell. Besides the concern associated with driving to the mountains and work in the cold I have serious concerns about the safety of the truck with malfunctioning doors in that I have no idea if the latches are fully engaged in freezing weather.

Bottom line...until this is fixed...I'm struggling with taking the truck back...I am in a loaner until FORD figures out WTF to do.
