Never had this problem in any vehicle. This is my work truck, under DOT regulations. Since pads and rotors are still in decent shape, it is hard to justify spending over $600 to replace. Mechanic says this is not a safety issue. Braking seems fine and reliable. However, this rattling noise sounds like the entire rear end is about to come apart. These brakes have at least 150,000 miles on them and are barely half worn (pads). I do a lot of over-the-road driving. I cannot understand how this problem is occuring while the brakes appear to still have many miles on them. I don't know if there is a cheap fix and one that will not lead to more severe problems down the road. I guess with Ford building the same van for so long, I expect problems like this to not happen.
