Truck shut down by itself. Towed truck to dealership and was told the egt exhaust gas temperature sensor went out. Discovered that Ford was under investigation on a partial recall of same part for same engine for ambulance package trucks. Called Ford to ask if my truck was covered and was told no even through it is the same part and the same engine as the October 2013 recall of 2011-2012 Ford F 250 ambulance package vehicles equipped with a 6.7lt diesel power stroke engine.

Started vehicle and drove about 1/4 mile and warning came on to find a safe place to pull over. Check engine light came on. Soon as I slowed down and stopped the engine shut off. Had to have it towed to dealer. Was told it was a bad sensor. Something to do with egr/ oil pressure. This is second time this happen. Previous time was while driving through town, stopped at a red light and truck shut off for overheating. Again had to tow it in, and again was a bad sensor sensing the truck had overheated. Nothing wrong with the truck either time except sensor.

Driver was piloting vehicle through turn at intersection fully loaded with salt and a snow plow. Vehicle dash display read shut down vehicle safely and then immediately shut the vehicle down. Truck was stranded impeding traffic for 40 minutes until a good samaritan was able to pull it back out of the intersection. Vehicle was towed to dealer and egt exhaust temp sensor was found to be bad. The charge was $100 for the work plus the tow bill which was $113.50. This is a safety issue. I use this and another truck with the same engine (also submitted complaint for that VIN) to tow and heavy haul all the time. This is not safe if it happens when traveling down hill, fully loaded and the truck shuts down. That is not safe, but in fact rather scary.

Driving through my neighborhood at approximately 30mph. Less than a mile from my house, vehicle displays warning to stop vehicle safely. I began to turn into a driveway so that I could turn around and head back home and the vehicle shut down. My truck was now blocking the roadway and a person's driveway at the only entrance to the subdivision during the morning commute hours. I shut the truck off, and tried to re-start it, but it would not re-start. The vehicle would not shift into neutral so that I could push it out of the roadway. I had to call a tow truck to haul the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership said it was a faulty sensor. (this was the second indecent for me involving a faulty engine sensor.) I have spent more that $300 fixing sensors that should not fail. Leaving me stranded in the middle of a roadway, blocking traffic. I am just thankful it was in a subdivision and not on a highway.

Stop safely now came on in display. Continued driving until I came to a stop light. When I slowed to stop and slowed to 3 mph the vehicle shut down in 5 pm traffic. Had it towed to home where it started the next am. Attempted to drive it to the dealership under the advisement of the service writer and it shut down again 2 miles from home. Had to wait on a tow again to the dealership. One of the four egt exhaust sensors had failed. Dealer told me it is a known issue with these trucks.

Our first F150 ecoboost purchased in July 2011 was taken by Ford as a lemon. The replacement truck provided in November 2011 has the same issues. While driving in rain on a freeway our V6 ecoboost F150 truck engine starts to shudder, shake and then rapidly lose power while driving at highway speeds. Then the engine completely shuts down when accelerating. Our vehicle barely made it to the side of the road where it stopped running. After letting it sit for a few minutes the engine was restarted. Although the engine worked the truck continued to shudder and shake with limited ability to accelerate for the remainder of the 3 hour drive. Over a period of many months the problem recurred many times, almost always when driving in the rain. The problem was even worse while driving in the rain and towing a boat trailer. The problem is especially horrific when towing a trailer and driving in the mountains in the rain. The problem also occurs no matter then weather when driving through the mountains of Kentucky, Tennessee and northern Georgia. The truck is totally undependable. Although the truck has been in the dealership for repairs the problem is not fixed! on top of the loss of power, a life threatening situation when driving in traffic on any road especially a freeway, the miles per gallon has never been higher than 18mpg when driving on a freeway at 55mph (confirmed by a Ford mechanic) significantly below the product advertisement by Ford. To date after multiple times in the Ford dealership repair shop the problem has not been fixed.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F250 sd. The contact stated that there were exhaust fumes inside the vehicle and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized dealer and advised the contact that the cause of the failure was an obstructed exhaust gas recirculation cooler cord. The exhaust gas recirculation cooler cord was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,900. The current mileage was 19,000. ## VIN passed ## 2011 Ford Super Duty ##
