It seems to be known problem with a Tech bulletin for '17-'19 trucks, and I am told Ford needs to make new parts including the steering stabilizer and others. It's not available until after 12/16. But they do not notify you of the problem, and when someone is killed, maybe the government will act.

F-350 King Ranch 6.7L Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,000 miles

Ford had a program to replace the steering damper which was done in 2020. It was a significant improvement but it never completely fixed the problem. The most recent episode occurred at 65mph in heavy traffic. It rolled over a bridge expansion joint and experienced severe front end and steering wheel shake that resulted in loss of steering control and brakes. Luckily, no one was injured.

The truck has been regularly maintained as per Ford recommendations. Dealer is backlogged and cannot get the truck in for evaluation for another 3 weeks.

It is unsafe to drive until this issue is resolved.

F-350 Lariet 6.7L

Truck went into a violent death wobble at 60 mph after going over a small pavement irregularity and nearly hit the guard rail...we have a 70k truck we are afraid to drive and which Ford claims is "just fine and within factory specs"

Dealer replaced steering damper, again and said the tires might be bad. Bulls#it.

F-350 LX 607

Pulling a 38ft 5th wheel trailer at 62mph driving over a rough spot, the front end shakes violently.

Update from May 18, 2019: Ford Motor Company in Detroit told me to take the truck to Inskeep Ford dealership in Greenfield Indiana. I was told that when the trucks came off the assembly line the casters were adjusted at a high degree. They lowered the caster adjusters and place a smaller shim. That took some of the wobble out but, not all of it. I'm still experiencing the same problem. It cost me $235.00 and that didn't stop the problem. I'm very afraid to pull my camper because of this issue and it's not fair for me to pay that kind of money for a Ford truck that has issues.

F-350 XLT 6.7L

If you hit a bump or expansion joint truck shakes violently to the point brakes don't work and you have to pull over to almost a dead stop before it stops. It will do it empty or loaded. I have had it to the dealer 3 times. They say there is nothing wrong with it. I showed the the video they gave me an excuse about my brand new factory Michelin tires are bad. I don't know if anyone has died, but it's coming.
