CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014 and 2015 Honda Odyssey shows an early trend of transmission problems with clunking/jerking when shifting gears.

Most of these Odyssey transmissions are still under warranty, but so far Toyota generally hasn't been able to diagnose or fix the clunking problem — that's the reason for our low rating. Some owners have reported it was a stuck solenoid, & in a few cases Honda has replaced the entire transmission.

As more of these Odysseys start exceeding the 60,000-mile powertrain warranty limit, buyer beware.

At 25,000 miles, 2014 Odyssey started making a squeaking noise while braking and turning. Took it to the dealership. They 'couldn't replicate the problem' so they couldn't fix it. Drove it for another six months while the noise getting worse. Took it back to dealership where, again, the couldn't replicate the problem so they couldn't fix it. Drove it for another 3 months with noise still getting worse. Took it back to the dealership where they said that the emergency brake (which I never use) needed adjustment. Charged me $120 for the labor. Drove out of service bay and the noise started on my way home. Gave up on dealership and took van to the mechanic that my company deals with. He took the back brakes apart and immediately determined that the rear pads were wearing uneven, one was cracked, and the rotors were showing signs on uneven wear and over-heating. He replaced the pads and rotors (for a cost of $500!) and have not had the problem since. Currently fighting with the dealership to have them pay my repair cost. Honestly believe that, had they bothered to do their job the first time, the problem would have not continued to get worse and would not have cost as much to fix. And, firmly believe that it was a manufacturers defect and should be covered under warrenty
