Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Black plastic connector that connects yellow wire to starter solenoid comes loose and/or gets dirty or corroded causing it not to make contact and the vehicle will sometimes not start. I've have seen on various online forums with people having this exact same problem. Dealerships always want to replace starter and other parts when it is simply this poor connection that's the problem. Chrysler denies it's a problem and dealer mechanics will not put on a better connector. They just like to keep charging people for new starters and other parts when they don't need them. This loose connection also could also cause a fire, it is an obvious flaw in design and a fire could cause serious injury or death to someone that doesn't realize the connection is bad.

2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee starting issues. I have had been stranded three times now due to my vehicle not starting, I have paid to have it towed three times. Mechanics cannot figure out what the issue is. I have read thousands of on-line reports of the same issue. I spent $700 last month on something in the transmission (transfer case maybe) and it would not start again yesterday and I had to have it towed again. I as a single mother cannot be continue to be stranded. Apparently no one can figure out what is going on with these vehicles. I have just over 50,000 miles on it, and would consider this to be a fairly newer vehicle. I am scared to drive it anywhere. I also seem to have shifting problems especially going up hills. I am scared I am going to be left stranded somewhere alone with my daughter.

Have submitted a complaint before but the problem continues and has gotten worse. My Jeep loses all electrical power and shuts down and restarts itself while driving, occasionally doesn't accelerate past second gear and other times accelerates very slowly, numerous but problem began recurring only days later. Only now my Jeep is additionally at times acting like it wants to shut down but instead is just faltering shaking the whole vehicle violently accompanied by the struggling to accelerate. - electrical system on five occasions all of dash lights came on and went off while I was driving, two of these times the engine stalled and restarted itself. Took vehicle to dealership and was told no problem was found. Numerous electrical issues. The most dangerous have been the prnd lighting up and vehicle not going over 1st or 2nd gear while driving. This has happened to me 7 times now, 4 of which have tried to be diagnosed by the dealer without success of this and gave it to the dealer when they told me 'nothing was wrong' according to their diagnostics. Photo proved otherwise. Also the vehicle has shut itself off twice while I was driving on a busy road. The windows also get stuck and will not work. Have to operate one window to make the other one work. The battery failed and 'transmission over temp" error happened at the same time. Manufacturer's service agent said it was a false readout due to battery failure transmission. This has been a problem since first started yesterday on 04 /10/2011 I need help my car is in newark NJ.

Vehicle has lost power while driving. You will be crusing along or pulling out into an intersection and you will loose all power. The engine will not rev, no response at all. After waiting for a perion of time, the vehicle starts going again. This happened to me four times, once in the middle of an intersection, four lanes in all directions, and the vehicle just lost all power. Very scary. I took the vehicle to my local garage, and he told me that this was the second Jeep to do the same thing. The owner had to have the vehicle towed into the garage, and upon arrival, could find nothing wrong. I had to go to an authorized Jeep dealer, and I asked them if they ever heard of this happening, and the reply was, just 3 or 4 times....imaging if this failure happened this often in this small area, how many other vehicles may be having the same problem. The vehicle only had 31000 miles on it, but it was out of warranty for time by 9 months. This is a very dangerous event when you are driving and suddenly loose all power and don't know if or when it is coming back. Chrysler said they do not have a problem. I don't believe them.

Grand Cherokee

  • 46,107 miles
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that there were multiple failures with her vehicle. The vehicle stalled which was caused by a drive by sensor within the engine, the rear lift gate light stays on continuously and the check engine light constantly illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on more than one occasion and they could not repair the failure. The contact had to continuously pay a deductible of $100 each time the vehicle was taken to the dealer. None of the failures were recalls nor was there a warranty. The manufacturer was contacted and informed her to take the vehicle to the dealer for the repairs. The failure mileage was 46,107.

In May 2008, 15308 mi on Jeep, slowing for red light, dies, all dash lights com on, no power to steer, no wipers, etc.; starts back on it's own. Took to dealer, no code, no re-act; has happened intermittent since-safety issue in traffic. Now tranny problem, started Sept. 2010, 37,600 mi, code 750, changed solenoid pk in tranny, now code for low pressure send circuit, drives a few miles then goes and stays in 4th gear; 3 months and still not drivable. Need recall for esm and tbs before someone gets killed. Chrysler should stand behind their products & be responsible for design and components. This is very disheartening since both my husband and I own a small biz and are struggling just to keep the doors open and now add the expense of diagnosing Chrysler's problem is just too much! I warranty my work, wear & tear considered, as should Chrysler before someone is hurt or worse- dies trying to get to out of traffic.

While driving the entire dashboard lit up and then slowly proceeded to shut down. Gauges stopped working then suddenly came back on. Vehicle began to hesitate with shifting and car felt very sluggish. Occurred 3-4 times for no apparent reason and without warning. Dealer could not recreate or identify the problem despite many online reports of the exact same incident.

I have a 2007 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. While I was driving at night, in the dark, my headlights and interior lights began to flash on and off. Realizing what an extreme danger the Jeep was to me and all others on the road I immediately took to the dealership. The dealership said they were unable to diagnose a problem and told me to continue to drive the Jeep. Its happened on 5 different occasions after and every instance I have taken it to the dealership with no resolution nor a diagnosis.

Car will decelerate, and will not respond to depressing of the accelerator pedal. Occurs at various speeds and traffic conditions. Contacted dealership, began to describe issue, without describing the make and model, and the repair-shop was able to then tell me the make and model of my vehicle without me previously disclosing. (already had gear shift module replaced once before, and since the issue occurred 14 months later, dealership refuses to cover expense of replacement.) this is a very dangerous issue, and as stated before, occurs at various times and traffic conditions, and there are no preceding warnings or other indicators that foreshadow the occurrence. Car is now at 42,000 miles, yet it is in need of a 3rd shift module, seems highly unlikely. Dealership needs to declare a recall or when the customer has the problem, they fix it without further expense to the consumer. I bought this Jeep new, and its my 4th one, however, I am extremely disappointed with their customer service, and the quality of vehicle they are producing, and will not ever purchase their vehicles again.

Car would not start. It was towed to the dealership which had to replace the starter solenoid wire. The service department informed me this was a know design defect, but since I was just out of warranty (37K) I would have to cover the cost. If this is a know problem, why isn't it fixed.

I purchased a 2007 used Jeep Grand Cherokee from kelly Jeep on 3/11/2010, with an odometer reading of 24,758 miles. This vehicle has stalled randomly seven (7) times since the date of purchase. It has been returned to the dealer's service department three times and each time they have not been able to duplicate the cause of the stalling. The stalling occurs after a stop and then attempts to proceed into a turn at low speed. It occurs more frequently when a right turn is being made. The engine stops and all electric energy are lost, just as though the ignition was turned off. Braking assist and power steering are lost. I have provided the dealer a document listing and observation of each of the seven events. Several have places me in a comprising position and if traffic had been heavy could have resulted in a serious accident. The vehicle always is able to restart after it stopped, the ignition turned off and placed in park.

Bought used 2007 Grand Cherokee from adams Jeep, aberdeen md in Nov. 2009. Within first month, while traveling around 30 mph, car would not accelerate when pushing on gas pedal despite engine racing. Prnd lights all lit up. Took car back to dealer and bezel gear selector replaced after paying $100 deductible on extended warranty. Same problem occurred 5 months later. Dealer charged me for electronic control module updates. One month later, same problem occurred, dealer replaced bezel gear selector again. One month later, same exact problem occurred. This is 4th time taking car in for lack of acceleration while pushing on gas pedal. Dealer states unable to fix problem since they cannot reproduce it. This is a huge safety problem as I have almost been hit multiple times when my car fails to accelerate when pushing on gas pedal. Chrysler needs to recall the shifter module in these cars before someone gets killed.

This problem has occurred almost every day for two months. I will describe one incident, which occurred this evening around 11pm. I was driving on the highway in my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee when my accelerator stopped having any effect on my car. All of the gauges died (so the fuel reported empty, the speedometer said I was not moving, etc) - all of this while traveling at 65mph. I had to pull over, turn the car off and back on, and all of the problems went away. As I've said, this has happened once a day for the past two months. So far there appears to be no fix for the problem.

2007 Grand Cherokee overland 3.0L diesel. For the past year or so the lights on the dash will all come on similar to when the car is first started. Recently the speedometer and tach will shut off as well. If this were a gas engine the engine would probably also stall. Numerous times at the dealer no change. I believe this related to the 2008 Grand Cherokee recall.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 35 mph the engine stalled without warning. Within seconds, the vehicle would restart without driver intent. The dealer replaced the ignition switch, the power-train control module, and the electronic control module; yet, the failure persisted. The contact voluntarily surrendered the vehicle to the manufacturer. He was concerned that the vehicle would be resold since it could potentially cause a crash to occur. The failure mileage was 39,000 and the current mileage was unknown.
