This as I found out is a very common problem with GM vehicles in general. On numerous occasions the pump loses the ability to pass ohms and the unit becomes inoperative. the pump at this point has to be replaced also another common problem deals with the float in the tank that gets water logged and gives incorrect fuel readings the only fix that i could suggest is replacement
