The Toyota Camry was at one time the gold standard for automobiles known for their reliability and longevity. With just under 90,000 miles on the odometer this car requires weekly oil checks along with the addition of about one quart of oil about every 500 miles (there is a saudi kingdom that is very pleased with the oil consumption of this car as it drinks oil like it should consume gas). I have to change oil three times within a period where I should only have to change it once.

According to Toyota the cost to fix this problem is about $3,000 or if I want they'll install a used motor (won't tell me how many miles on the motor or that I won't have the same problem but only that it's another solution I can consider). Wonder why there aren't any new replacement motors available for repair considerations?

Maybe Toyota knows they screwed up with this design BIG TIME and are wanting to cut their losses. Isn't it amazing the motor seems to go to crap about the time a persons warranty expires. Can't believe the Environmental Protection Agency isn't all over this problem, can only imagine how much pollution is going into our atmosphere thru all those oil guzzlingToyotas. Sure would be nice if Toyota would step up and acknowledge this problem and offer up a viable solution.

About a year ago my mechanics complained that the car was using excessive oil. I did not want to believe them since we did oil changes regularly and kept the car in good condition. But, after several oil changes and running out of oil in between I could not longer deny it.

I did not extended my warranty. I had two Toyota's before this one and never had a problem. I went to my dealer and call Toyota Corporate and got no help. Even though they know and knew about this problem. They try to tell me that this engine is new. They tried to tell me the oil consumption was normal.

This cannot be since it is doing the same thing that the 2009 did in all of the complaints I have read.

I feel so disrespected. I was nothing but loyal to Toyota.

my 2010 toyota camry is using huge amounts of oil. Had the oil consumption test done in May, 2016 and dealership said it definitely met qualifications for extended warranty repair at toyota. It is a 4 cylinder engine.

I was placed on a long waiting list and called 1/18/17 finally to get the car in for rings, pistons, bearings. took the car in and got a call back from service dept saying that the engine is slightly different than the ones covered under the recall. They cannot fix it without corporate direction. I called corporate toyota and they said it is not covered-even though it is using huge amounts of oil. They said i need to get the oil consumption test again since it has been longer than 6 months and work with dealer about getting it fixed in most cost efficient way. It is not covered. Terrible.

This car is using a quart of oil in less than 1,000 miles . It was off the dipstick before the 1,000 mile mark and the dealer said that was normal no repair was needed . Recall was useless. Car is still sucking oil about a quart every 700 miles

On 10/02/2016 I took my Camry in for a oil change with 92570 on the odometer. At 93500 I needed to add 1 quart of 0w20. On 11/31/16 with 96022 I had it in for brakes and it was down a quart and a half. I have been driving the car on the highway more recently but either way it should not be consuming that much oil.

I changed the oil every 8000 km @Toyota service center. One day I find out there is no oil in the engine. I added one liter and next day visited the Toyota service. They test and found out after 5 checks that the consumption is 1/4 liter per 2000km and said this is written in the book!

Since that, I change the oil every 5000Km and adding 1 liter during 5000km.

I DIDN'T REALIZE I HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL MY CAR WOULD WHINE WHEN I MADE A SHARP LEFT TURN. I CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD AND THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE DIP STICK, SO I BOUGHT OIL TO GO IN IT AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT CHECKED. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FIX IN PLACE BUT IT STOPPED AT 2009 CAMERY. SO MY CAR WAS NOT A PART OF IT AND WAS NOT COVERED. THE FIX IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND I CANT AFFORD IT. I WAS TOLD TO JUST KEEP CHECKING IT AND ADDING OIL IT'LL BE ALRIGHT. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR ME BECAUSE THAT OIL IS EXSPENSIVE AND THEY KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM, SO THIS SHOULD BE ON THEM NOT ME. I DIDN'T MAKE THE MOTOR, THEY DID.

Toyota Camry 2010 oil consumption has too, before making the new oil change in miles consumes about 4/4 of oil. More costs when changing the oil must be verified if the engine lacks. No oil spill or smoke must have a default by excessive consumption. Toyota must check what the cause of this problem in oil consumption.

P.O.S. car; in addition to excessive oil usage (2010 Camry) I have had ongoing problems with brake pulsing (fixed several times) and faulty sun visors (they don't stay up--expensive fix). I used to be a loyal Toyota customer but my experience with the Camry and my problems with my 2001 Sienna will ensure that I NEVER buy Toyota crap again!
