Had the warranty expire a few months and then the touch screen and radio completely died.... dealer said it would cost $2500 to fix, but I fixed myself for $700 or so. Purchased a radio, but I am handy with electrical. Otherwise its about $800 bucks to fix this sucker....

Toyota knows about this issue with the touchscreen. The is even an official Toyota TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) regarding the issue. I spoke with the district manager in Kansas City, Missouri about it. She offered to cut the repair cost from $800 to $400. I explained that is the cost of a set of tires, but she refused to do anything further. I drive my Toyotas to 250,000 miles. I asked her how many times would I have to pay to repeatedly fix the broken touchscreen on my way to 250,000 miles? She was adamant and just kept repeating herself.

THIS IS NOTHING MORE THAN PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE AND WILL CERTAINLY IMPACT THE RESALE VALUE OF TOYOTAS AND THEY DO NOT CARE. IT'S OBVIOUS TOYOTA NO LONGER WANTS TO MANUFACTURE RELIABLE VEHICLES. THEY ARE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT PROFIT AND FORCING CONSUMERS TO COME BACK TO THE DEALER AND BUY A NEW CAR. IT'S ABSURD!
