engine problem
I bought a used 2008 Audi A4 2.0L with 35,000 miles in July 2015. I changed the oil to get a benchmark since I didn't know when the oil was last changed. After about 1,000 miles the oil light came on. I added a quart of oil and all was fine. Then after another 1,000 miles the oil light came on again! This isn't right so I called Audi Customer Care and they told me to call the service manager at the local dealer which I did. He said there was a class-action lawsuit but only covered 2009-2011 cars so mine wasn't included. I'm not sure what to do now but I don't want to be spending $10 on a quart of oil every 1,000. I have an 1985 Toyota pickup and a 1995 Toyota Camry both with over 270,000 miles and neither uses oil between oil changes.

Bought this car used, off lease. It burned huge amounts of oil (1litre/800km) right out of the gate. Blue smoke out of tail pipe on acceleration. Took it to dealership for part one of oil consumption test. Then mysterious reduction in oil consumption. Part two of oil consumption test indicated oil consumption levels within Audi's 'acceptable levels. Audi refused to tell me what they had done to my car. Claim they are not obligated to tell you what they do if car is under warranty.
Two local specialty mechanics diagnosed turbo problem ($3000 estimate). Audi denied problem. Oil consumption continued until I had the engine pressure cleaned (internal). Oil consumption has now dropped to 1 litre/1500 km. I don't go anywhere without a spare litre of oil.
Disgusted with Audi. Driven them for 30 years. NEVER AGAIN.

It's not an oil burning problem so much as a oil going away problem. Since buying this A4 at 1 year old, I was adding a quart every ~2250 miles. This has increased over the years to a quart every ~1000 miles. Never any smoke or leaks (garage kept). It just goes away. Recently found a lot of oil in the turbo cooling lines. Audi says it's normal. I say, never again. Love the car, if I didn't it would have been gone a long time ago. But will never buy another. I know others and have read about others that have all had the same problem. And they say the same thing: Never again. One more year and it's gone. Hopefully I'll make a better decision. Oh, by the way, $550.00 to replace a thermostat is down right despicable.

Bought car new. Since day one it has used oil at an alarming rate. I have spent hundreds out of pocket for oil between oil changes. My advice to anyone buying an Audi is stay away from the 2.0T engine unless you don't care if the oil light keeps coming on about every 2,500 miles. Dealer has said over and over that this is normal! Normal for who?

Went to dealership and they printed a report off the internet that this was acceptable. I cannot believe a company like Audi would build an engine that burns oil at this amount.
My last Audi was great, This one is junk.

I bought a certified audi 2008 with 30,000 mile.The oil light goes on every 3000 miles ( I only have 34200 on it now).The dealer replaces the oil and said this is a common problem with the CVT engine.I find it annoying!Also the brakes squeak like crazy when at slow speeds like a parking lot-Dealer also said this is normal and not as bad as a porsche or mercedes.I owned a 328I and never had an issue.Wish I had not traded it in!!!!

MY 2008 AUDI IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS HAS CHECKED THE LOW OIL ENGINE LIGHT IN EACH I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO AUDI WERE THEY REPLACE THE OIL AND SENT ME ON MY WAY !!!!!! SO I ASK MYSELF I HAVE A 2008 AUDI WITH ONLY 36,000 MILES ON IT WHY THE HELL IS THIS CAR THATS SUPPOSE TO BE GREAT WORTHLESS IT FEELS LIKE AM DRIVING A FORD KIA (SORRY FORD) IN THIS CASE SORRY AUDI THAT YOU HAVE TO COMPETE AGAINST KIA ... I HAVE A NICE RIDE THAT I CAN NEVER RIDE BECAUSE IT EATS UP MY OIL AND NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM ... I WISH I HAD A KIA RIGHT ABOUT NOW :(

My 2008 Audi A4 Quattro burns oil at a rate of 1 quart per 1000 miles. The oil level warning came on at 6000, 10000 and 14000 miles. Each time I had it checked at Tischer Audi of Silver Spring, MD. where it was purchased and was told each time that no leaks were found and that it was operating normally. They also measured the aforementioned burn off rate and informed me that it was "well within Audi specifications and no action is required." I wonder how long they think they can get away with this? My Audi is a disaster on wheels.

Burns Oil, have to add every 500 -600 miles. Blue cloud of smoke on Acceleration on Highway. Brakes screech, arm rest is made of inferior quality. Rough Engine, hesitates on acceleration.
Informed AUDI Customer Service, Audi declined repairs on car due to out of warranty, on 77000 miles.
No more future Audi cars for me, had enough.
