Always liked Audi, especially the A5. Finally got one and the engine oil consumption issue is just a pain. Feels like I have to fill it up every other day. There's finally a recall, I have a CAEB engine and the dealer says it is not under the recall, come on are you kidding me??!??!?!?

A5 Convertible 2.0L Turbo

I knew something was wrong with the car within days of taking delivery. Every time I started it, I heard a grinding noise from the engine. Then, when it hit 2400 kms, it wanted oil. I'd ask the service center to check it, what normal oil consumption should be, and they shrugged me off, treated me like a dumb broad.

By 50,000 kms, 3.5 years old, it was sucking back oil every 1500 kms. So, I FINALLY did some online research. Seems that Audi's 2.0 ltr engines have a problem with the pistons, this is not an isolated problem. The dealership again shrugged me off, so I got in touch with the Audi Middle East office (I'm in Dubai). They kicked the dealer into shape, full piston set replaced at their cost. But wait, it gets better... (and I will add another complaint for this one)...

Two weeks after getting it back, I'm driving and have a total brake failure. No brakes at all. It was like trying to push a concrete wall. Fortunately, I was driving slowly at the time and was able to grind the car to a stop by putting it into park. Had it towed into the service center, 48 hours later they tell me the vacuum pipe has split. They are damned lucky I wasn't doing 120 on the highway.

It may be a sweet ride, but it's not worth the risk. Once it's been repaired, I'm dumping it. #Audi FAIL!!!
