Have 1998 Buick Regal with symptoms identical to recent safety recall 03V527000 for steering defect. However, since car was built in Feb 1998 it appears to be out of the range of the GM recall (ends for cars built prior 10/97). Drive trains and engines are warranted to 100,000 miles along with emissions systems. A part as essential to safety as the steering should not be failing especially at the age and mileage of this car. The owners manual makes a big deal out of the fact that tuneups, antifreeze, etc should last 100,000 miles. Isn't steering more important!! I feel that Buick should pay for this repair.
