CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Dodge Caliber has all kinds of suspension problems at relatively low mileage: typically 40-50,000 miles.

The most commonly reported problems are with ball joints & control arms going bad. Tie rods & leaking struts are also reported failing in the same mileage range.

Unfortunately all the suspension problems means some owners only find out after they notice their tires are ruined.

We've given the 2007 Caliber our worst rating because these problems happen at such low mileage, & it involves a wide range of apparently defective parts. With most other cars, major suspension work is pretty rare under 50,000 miles.

July 2010 there was a gas pedal recall which I immediately had dealer fix. They stated they didn't replace the pedal but some kind of sensor or something. Exactly a month later, I started my car up and the rpms were revving and were stuck. It felt like the gas pedal had been stuck all the way down but it wasn't. There was no way I was driving it so I had to pay out of pocket for a tow truck to take it all the way back to the dealer that supposedly fixed it the first time. At first they didn't think it had anything to do with the pedal and it was something wrong with the engine. After having the car for about 1-2 days they replaced the gas pedal. I went to pick up car and they didn't even apologize for what might have been an fatal flaw. In fact I wanted to ask the service person what happened and why it wasn't fixed correctly and he pulled me a side so other customers couldn't hear and said that it was fixed and that was that.

I was one of the first to have the gas pedal problem. I want all to know that the brake override does not work when the gas pedal fails in this way. Yes, the brake does slow the car. However, the only way to stop the car is to shift to neutral and or turn the key off or hit something. (avoid the last one by doing one of the others!) Car has safety item if you turn off key, steering wheel does not lock unless car is in park so this will work just remember you will lose power steering and brake if you choose this way. I feel that the replacement gas pedal does fix the problem! The new gas pedal might last longer / more miles, but the design will fail, brass press into plastic with no retaining plate or clip will FAIL !!!

Keep your eye open for a new recall and remember how to get control of the car.
