1. no identifiable events leading up to failure. Just began happening. 2. the top of the dashboard perpendicular to the windshield has begun disintegrating. In the past month three full length cracks (fr. Windshield to front of dash) have appeared. There seems to be some squeaking involved also. I am afraid that the airbag, lights, etc. May be affected. It appears that this is a common problem with this year model based on media reports and many internet sources. Dodge appears to be aware of this problem but has yet to admit that this is a problem that is wide reaching and dangerous. 3. called Dodge-- they want me to pay for a diagnosis and then will consider helping partially pay for the part--labor would be my responsibility.
