I have changed to the 2009 steering parts. They are a larger diameter and use different pivot points.
New Tie rod ends
New stabilizer shock.
New Steering box
New Pit-man arm
New tires are bad after only a few thousand miles.
New brace between the frame rails for the steering gear box.
I can reproduce the issue at will on a certain highway crossing the same bridge.
This is a very scarey and extremely dangerous condition that Dodge has allowed to exist for a long time.
This design flaw/condition can result in death, you just can not realize how horrible it is until you experience it in real life and there is no getting use to it. I have spent approximately $3,500.00 on repairing, rebuilding and modifying the front end to include adding BD Diesel Sway Bar End Links and BD Diesel Steering Stabilizer Box; all to no help, my Dodge 3500 truck still has the "Death Wobble". Dodge needs to step up and pay to fix the problem, I have spent enough money to try to fix the problem. It is like no one knows how to really fix the problem, I do not know what to do and no one seems to have an answer!
Why would I ever buy another Dodge truck when Dodge leaves there customers with no help solving a life threatening condition.
I have worked on the front end of this truck since it was fairly new. I have replaced the tie rod ends and the ball joints and nothing seems to help. The steering is loose and the front vibrates all the time but just recently I was traveling down a busy highway and hit a pot hole which triggered the "death wobble". This was the first time I had experienced this but it happened again the next day in a similar situation. This is a very scary experience causing me to have to slow down considerably in busy traffic to get it to stop. It was next to impossible to control the vehicle during this violent vibration and I have been driving very cautiously ever since to avoid hitting any pot holes. I don't know what is causing this to happen but I am ready to find some answers.
Driving on the freeway at about eighty miles per hour, I hit a dip in the road and the steering began shaking so bad that I had to almost stop the truck in the fast lane to get it to stop shaking. I believe that this is a major safety issue that the Dodge Corporation is responsible to repair so that they would have satisfied consumers.
