I brought this car last year 2014, I took it in for its first WOF in NZ Auckland Manukau, the mechanic phones me to come in and have a look at the car under body. So I arrived a few minutes later to find that it has rust starting to come through the paint work and in some places it was quite bad. The mechanic said to me because the vehicle is under 10 years old it should not be showing any signs of rust at all, it is only 8 years old. Otherwise, the car runs very well, the appearance looks good, everywhere else, apart from the rust under body which could result in structural damage.
I have notified Ford customer complaints but the warranty for corrosion is 5 years, which I thought would have been at least 10 years or longer, 5 years warranty is not very long, is it? The people that manufacture these vehicles should at least apply stronger sealants over structural steel, like they do with aircraft's, you wouldn't want one of those to start corroding after 5 years would you? Stand by your name Ford, up your warranty or apply better sealants / paint. That's it for now, regards. Paul T.
