Just a suggestion to everyone having problems with their Windstars. I own one and actually took it to an honest mechanic that told me the Trans Range Sensor had gone out on my van. The problems that came with that could have easily been mistaken for a faulty tranny if you did not know, or had a dishonest mechanic. The sensor is very affordable at only $20-$50! Problems could include: losing control of the vehicle while driving, not being able to go forward or reverse, shifting hard, etc. Hope this helps! Be very careful of who you choose as a mechanic! Keep in mind Auto Zone and Advance Auto Part stores can provide diagnostic reads free of charge. This will provide the problem code that you yourself can research and get the truth!!
