Car has a manual 6 speed transmission which had been replaced twice (once under warranty for 5th gear grind @ 45K miles and again after factory warranty expired with < 30K on new transmission). I had to pay over $2K out of pocket for a new transmission as Hyundai would not warranty it. The 6spd manual transmission is an extremely common defect for all Genesis coupe models, with many owners needing to replace it more than once and Hyundai will not do anything about it.
I recently purchased this car with only 35000 miles on it, and the 5th gear had already been grinding. Absolutely ridiculous for a 2011 car to have tranny issues that early on. I then took it to Hyundai to get it replaced under warranty and they replaced it. But there are 100S of pages of forums that have the same issue, now with only 43000 miles I can feel 5th starting to grind on upshifts again... I dont know what to do because I dont want to replace a transmission every year.
The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Genesis coupe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the gear box seized and shifted the vehicle into neutral. The contact mentioned the failure was recurring when driving at higher speeds. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 34,000.
