THIRD TIME

While charging my Kona EV at a DC fast charger there was an error message on the charger. When I tried to start the car an orange triangle displayed along with the error message "Check electric vehicle system". This time the car was off and my phone was not plugged in. Hyundai Roadside Assistance came and charged the 12v battery (2X) to no avail. The car had to be towed to the dealer. They are checking the car as I submit this report.

While charging my Kona EV at a DC fast charger there was an error message on the charger. When I tried to start the car an orange triangle displayed along with the error message "Check electric vehicle system. This time I had my phone plugged in while charging the car. Hyundai Roadside Assistance came and charged the 12v battery. I drove the car to the dealer. They checked the car and found no issues. They suggested that I leave the headlamps in off position (not auto).

I told the service manager, I do not know why thee 64 kW battery does not trickle charge the 12v battery. It is crazy that my car fails to start because of a 12v battery when a stronger battery is present. I also found out that there is a feature that prevents the 12v battery from discharging, but it was not available on the system menu.

See Owners Manual page H57

Aux. Battery Saver+

The Aux. Battery Saver+ is a function that monitors the charging status of the 12 V auxiliary battery.

If the auxiliary battery level is low, the main high voltage battery charges the auxiliary battery.

Kona Electric Limited 150 Kw

While charging my Kona EV at a DC fast charger there was an error message on the charger. When I tried to start the car an orange triangle displayed along with the error message "Check electric vehicle system". I thought perhaps this occurred because I was listening to the radio. The car was towed to the dealer. They charged the 12v battery and performed a service campaign.
