Engine suddenly lit engine light, went into limp mode and jerked steering while on the highway. Almost crashed into a semi-truck trying to get my car under control, then almost caused a pileup collision behind a slow-moving traffic control vehicle.

Limped into town. Engine was rattling. Found the engine to be very hot under the hood. Found oil dripping underneath (research says certain Hyundai Santa Fe were recalled for this issue). Oil was low, even though I had it topped off less than a week before.

Towed into another city to get available mechanic. Found error code P1326. Mechanic took a couple days to determine it was NOT caused by faulty sensor.

Towed to another city where I could have it taken into the lot (there is a long backload of cases at Hyundai). I saw about a dozen of the exact same model as my car in the service lot waiting repair (and many similar models). Told it would take 2 months to repair.

This almost killed me and my wife while we were on honeymoon. It could have killed others. Hyundai needs to investigate this QUICKLY and fix it.

This issue has been a logistical nightmare for my wife and myself. We had to leave the country on Feb 1st for six months of international work in central and South America. This was our work vehicle, had repairs done, upgrades and Thule added. Normally getting a rental vehicle while waiting is great, but they refused to help in this regard to get similar vehicle that could leave the US. Horrific, we have had the date of new engine changed four different times now, they only give one person at Hyundai to talk to. No real information or updates, no explanation why this gets delayed and why no one can aid us. This has caused major issues with our work and international partners. Everyvtime we make adjustments to hit the new engine date we get another update with 1-2 weeks more delay. Some of our non-profit partners in UK, Peru, and Romania are now very confused and frustrated. They (and us) are needing Hyundai to take some care of this unique situation and so far they have been very deaf :(
