Santa Fe Sport 3.2L

I am still paying for this car. It cost over $17,000. It's using oil up, like two quarts every two days, the park brake light is on and I can't get it to go off. The traction control light and ABC light is on. It burns fuel ⛽ really badly, like a tank of fuel doesn't last four days and I only go to work and back home 20 miles radius... I really need something to be done about this.

Santa Fe Sport LX 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 147,000 miles

Driving to beach for Easter weekend on interstate between TN and NC, my 2015 Santa Fe Sport suddenly dropped to 2000 rpm and about 20 mph. I was going uphill on mountain terrain and was fortunate to get over to right, avoiding trucks and other vehicles. When called Friendship Hyundai in JC, they were dismissive of my complaint and unwilling to offer a loaner car when I got back. I was able to get it towed by AAA to dealer before they closed and there I learned of this common problem with Hyundai. After leaving vehicle there, I called service next day, Saturday, and service dept. was misleading and deceptive, saying there was no recall, asking who said there was a recall, etc. Only when I pressed him did such rep acknowledge they had multiple problems with this type engine failure. I understand that it was a holiday weekend, etc., but to be intentionally misleading, unhelpful and deceptive about the nature of the problem is a bigger issue. I never received any notification of any engine problem, though Hyundai knows it exists. I was planning on purchasing another vehicle from them, but certainly no longer.

Update from May 20, 2019: Update:

After the wiring harness “fix” and after the Friendship Hyundai JOHNSON City people claimed “no knowledge” of any problems, my car returned to normal...FOR A WEEK!

I was almost hit in the back by a truck again because the engine stalled at 2000 RPM AGAIN!!!

Took into Friendship in JOHNSON it’s again and the service dept. AGAIN claimed NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY PROBLEM, WVEN THOUGH MY CAR WAS JUST IN THERE LAST WEEK! DISHONEST AND DECEPTIVE FOLKS!!!

Santa Fe Sport 2.0T 2.0L 4 Inline

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10 miles

Same problem many have reported for the Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0T over many years. From a dead stop the engine intermittently may not accelerate when the gas pedal is pushed. The delay is on the order of a second which can be potentially deadly if you're trying to pull into fast traffic. Dealer calls it "turbo delay" and advises there is no fix. I get around it by keeping left foot on the brake while keeping RPM slightly elevated by keeping the gas pedal slightly depressed, then letting go of the brake while pushing down the gas pedal when I need to accelerate. My wife just plain refuses to drive this car (it is a second car for us) after narrowly being tail-ended.

Santa Fe Sport 2.0L Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10,000 miles

I have been pleased with a 2006 Hyundai that I still have, and am very disappointed with a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport that I purchased new. It has the 2.0 turbo engine that I believe is in other 2015 Hyundai's that have been reported with engine problems. The acceleration is sluggish and not smooth, and assume the problem is either internal to the engine or the turbo.
