No crank, no start. A most annoying situation. I had fully intended to keep this car for at least a few more years as it was still in pretty good shape and still liked it, but then it developed this problem. I researched the internet to discover that this was becoming a common problem for many Hyundai owners and there was seemingly no cure. Tried several fixes that seemed to help but the problem continued on random basis. My advice to potential Hyundai owners is to avoid this brand if you value your sanity. I have been driving for over 50 years and owned many brands but have never owned another vehicle that had a no start, no crank fault like the one from this manufacturer.

Ok...so this happened to me right after I bought the car. When I turn the key in the ignition EVERYTHING works on the dash, the radio comes on etc BUT the car does not turn over and start....it's silent. There is no click click click has if the battery is going dead...the battery is good. The is no know noise coming from the starter. It's completely silent....except for the ding ding ding off the door being ajar and the radio coming on.

I have Googled the problem and I've watched a couple videos on youtube. There were several things that I tried no avail. I have replaced the neutral safety switch twice (once with an mechanic and once with me). It seemed to have fixed the problem at first but within about a week it started doing the same thing again. Every that it don't start and turn the ignition so I can take the car out of gear and I just go back and forth with the gear shifter and that seems to do something for it to magically work to start the car. Sometimes once....sometimes 30 or 40 times that I go back and forth until it starts. It is very random when this happens it may go a couple of days before it won't start or it may be a week or two before it happens.

I kept researching and came across a fella that said he replaced the connector on the solenoid to the starter so I did that and it didn't fix the problem. Now I have come across people who have replace the ignition, the brake switch (which my car doesn't need to start), and the gear box and none of those have worked for them.

So this has been a real pain in the ass. I can't feel that I can trust the car to start and leave me stranded somewhere unsafe or anywhere for that matter. After doing a lot of research I have found that this problem has been going on for years with this make and model. Hyundai needs to at least acknowledge what the problem is and how to fix it if not do a total recall.

Update from Jan 12, 2018: 1-12-2018::::Ok so it's been sometime since I had posted the original complaint. At this point I want to add an observation that my car has been starting consistently since the weather has turned very cold. In the last 3 months (Nov thru Jan). I will keep ya updated.

I got in my car put the key in the ignition and attempted to start my car, it would not start, I tried it three time and nothing happened. waited about 2 minutes and tried again, then it started. This has been happening frequently. It happened after the car had been sitting for more than 6 hours, with all lights, radio, AC adapters and everything electrical off. When I went into the dealership and told them about the problem, they did the diagnostic test and told me they could not find the problem. Then what is the use of the test and the cost if they can not find anything wrong? Why is it now that the warranty is expired that all these thing are happening or now that they can determine what the problem is? This is not a way to retain customers or have a good reference to your product. Please give me some advice and/or input.
