Vehicle: 2002 Hyundai XG350 sedan, equipped with ABS system and anti-skid device. Events leading up to failure: Since 2003, on three occasions the following happened- while driving at less than 5 mph, upon depressing the brake pedal the car accelerated. On the fist two occasions no damage occurred. The car stopped on hitting the car ahead. On the third occasion, in September 2009, there was extensive damage to the car and others. On this last occasion I have the impressing that my right foot was firmly depressing the brake pedal, not the accelerator. In speaking with computer specialists, I was informed that there may be a feedback problem in the computer control system. As far as I know the body damage to all cars has been repaired.

The engine has periods where it will accelerate on its own. The engine will run rough while at the same time the rpms will increase dramatically. The vehicle will lurch forward with only control of the brake preventing an accident. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership for the 6th time. This time was only two days after the vehicle was returned as "repaired". the vehicle was towed to the shop. Dealer has replaced several components to include electronics and the throttle body. I was told that the last repair involved actual rewiring of accelerator components based on recommendations from the manufacturer. The problem is a serious safety concern.

New 2003 hyundia XG350 sudden acceleration when starting off from a stop. Car starts off slow then suddenly accelerates causing the car to lunge forward. May cause rear end crashes. We have had many close calls especially in bumper to bumper traffic. Dealer is un-able to correct. Says this is an engineering problem Hyundai is working on. I have had this problem since taking delivery Oct. 2002. Dealer has had car in shop repeated times to attempt corrective action. Dealer acknowledges product problem with 2003 and 2003 models.

Xg350L-vehicle will lunge forward from a total stop when accelarated or when driving at highway speed, dealer has attemted to fix problem 3 times but it continues still. Upon cold start up vehicle vibrates roughly, rough and hard shifts occur while driving and down shifting. The paint burr on the passengers door went to the metal when broken off/district service and parts man had to look at all these problems because of warranty and the fact that the door could rust. None of the problems have been taken care of.
