I went to the dealer Kia orisman on June 22 in the morning. You will inform me that you have to make an order for part. I called after a week and the part had not arrived. It's been two weeks and you still won't call me. I want to sell my car and I can't.

Recall on vehicle with no remedy in the foreseen future. Kia dealership said they don't know if it will get fixed. This recall could cause the vehicle to catch fire and they recommend parking in a place that's safe for this to happen.

My 2006 Kia Sedona minivan has an intermittent failure causing it not to start. All electrical works except the engine & starter. Turn the key to start & it does not turn over. The automotive mechanical term used to describe this condition is "no crank". the starter & engine remain off. After multiple attempts it starts after 5-30 minutes. We have taken the vehicle to the dealership on multiple occasions & they were unable to diagnose &/or repair the problem. The failure is so wide spread that there is a youtube website describing the problem & offering a solution with over 96,000 views. There needs to be a recall on this vehicle. The dealerships refuse to correct the problem unless they can duplicate the malfunction at the time of the service visit. Motorists are having to endure repeated breakdowns without remedy. There is no known procedure to correct the problem using emergency service when the event occurs. Hyundai also has the identical issue in their mini vans as well. Both models are built as a joint Venture between Kia & Hyundai. Please require them to issue a recall to correct this dangerous problem. On Friday, April 17th, 2020, [xxx] received the safety recall interim notice for his 2006 Kia Sedona stating that the engine is at risk for fire when vehicle is off. The letter states to park the vehicle until repaired and says that the risk of fire is due to moisture in an electrical system of the engine that can short out even when the vehicle is shut off. We have pleaded with Kia findlay and the Kia consumer center to at least check for moisture in the unit of concern, but were turned away. We also requested a loaner vehicle in the interim and again, they refused and said they cannot help unless the engine catches fire. We are afraid to have the vehicle here and would like a loaner until it's repaired, rather than risk a catastrophe. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The contact owns a 2006 Kia Sedona. While driving 10 mph, the contact noticed smoke coming from the engine without warning. The contact pulled the vehicle over and waited a few minutes to allow the engine to cool off. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but it would not start. The contact began to notice more smoke coming from the vehicle and smelled a burning plastic odor. The contact removed herself and her kids from the vehicle. The child's school maintenance man assisted the contact and asked her to open the vehicle's hood. As the hood was opened, flames began to emit from the vehicle. The maintenance person called the fire department for assistance. The fire was extinguished and a fire report was filed. There were no injuries. The contact's insurance company had the vehicle towed to the contact's home. The vehicle was not destroyed. A VIN search confirmed that there were no active recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.

After I experienced the latch problem that front hood flipped while driving on highway, the engine E locked up. Brought it to insurance mechanic, fixed hood and engine. Drove out from their in 5 minutes, the engine stalled on highway again. Never been able to start up. Mechanic wanted to take it as a new case, not as an existing claim. So we just towed the car back home.

Our 2006 Kia Sedona began experiencing intermittent no crank condition that left us stranded multiple times with kids in the car and towing expenses to a mechanic only for the car to start right up after getting there. This leaves the mechanics scratching there head and sending it back to us. We know now that the condition is caused by higher than normal resistance across the burglar alarm relay located in the in panel module. This is a non-serviceable part by Kia and if found defective requires the entire module to be replaced at the owners expense. The part in and of itself is cheap but because it is a non serviceable part the entire panel has to be replaced at about $500. Plus there is no guarantee that the defective part will malfunction again. The issue was fixed on later models made after 2007. Despite Kia acknowledging that it is a problem, due to not enough field complaints they refuse to recall the defective part and fix the mistake on 2006/2007 Kia Sedona's. this can happen at any time and leave you stranded. Turning off your car at the gas pump, turning off your car on the side of the street, turning off your car at the supermarket, or anywhere could mean your left stranded! Kia has sent out a technical service bulletin to their dealerships explaining the customer concern. This was intended to help technicians diagnose the problem. However this does not resolve the issue that they have caused for the 2006 2007 Sedona's that were made with this non-serviceable relay. The bulletin clearly states that if the part is found defective that the whole panel has to be replaced however Kia denies any responsibility in fixing the mistake despite fixing it and later models. I have been told that it is because there's not enough field complaints for them to worry about it.

The contact owns a 2006 Kia Sedona. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle vibrated through the steering wheel without warning. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road for observation and then driven to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the bolt that held the axle and the transmission was loose and stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The vehicle was towed to nelson Kia (4730 N Virginia ave, bassett, va 24055, 855-666-3226) where it was diagnosed that the engine block needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

I own a 2006 Kia Sedona. I've replaced the alternator 3 separate times due to ruined alternators. Diagnosis revealed the valve cover gasket was leaking onto the alternator causing a short in the alternator. The manufacture wasn't notified. The failure mileage was 98,000.

Oil leaks from valve cover gasket and timing cover gasket cause oil to drop on the alternator. This oil residue causes the alternator to stop working and in turn the battery dies. My vehicle has stopped abruptly on the freeway three times due to this issue, when all electrical power to the vehicle is abruptly disabled with very less warning and reaction time. This is a very dangerous situation and if not for my alertness and quick reaction, my family would have been a traffic hazard and accident prone. This a manufacturing or part related defect on Kia Sedonas. My mechanics have confirmed seeing this on other Kia Sedonas. My vehicle currently still has this problem and I am trying to get Kia to address it.

I was leaving my house and had just driven a short distance when the check engine light and the ESC off came on as the car slowed to almost a stop. I pressed on the accelerator and nothing happened. I got out of the car and raised the hood and the engine was idling roughly. I turned the car off and on several times but nothing chaged; it wouldn't accelerate and the warning lights stayed on. The ESC off light eventually went out and the check engine light stayed on but I was able to drive it again. I took it to a mechanic who lubricated a throttle cable after checking the codes. It worked for a few weeks after that but the ESC off light came on again intermittently after that. I am afraid of losing power when I am in heavy traffic, at an intersection, merging, or anywhere I will be in danger if I cannot move out of the way of oncoming traffic.
