I'm very concerned because I've only owned this car for 2 years this October and already the airbag light is on, without ever having been in an accident. What is the use of a big heavy tin box to drive around in, if that big heavy tin box is threatening to kill you? That kind of takes the convenience out of owning this big heavy tin box. I'm really upset about this, and I'm not sure if it's the passenger or driver side airbag yet, or just lights illuminating for the heck of it, but even the passenger side sometimes says 'OFF' while my husband is in the passenger side seat - so does that mean he dies if someone hits me?? How can something so lifesaving which is legally required just stop periodically working like a cheap window motor? I am losing total faith in this car and I am really worried. I will update when I hear from the dealer.

It is a manufacturing issue that many reported. The passenger seat sensors stop working and then the whole airbag system stop working. I have no doubts that this should be a main safety concern and the company should be responsible for fixing it.

So a few weeks ago I noticed my passenger side airbag light came on and even though my 15 year old son was sitting in the seat the airbag "Off" message was displayed next to the clock. I turned my car off when we dropped my daughter at school. When I cracked the car again the message was gone and the airbag light was still displayed. During the ride to take him to school the "Off" message would come on sporadically. Now even when no one is sitting in the seat the airbag is staying on and the airbag light is on on the dash.

From what I understand their is no official recall for this yet, but I have read many complaints from other drivers having the same issue. They are taking their vehicles to the dealer and are being given extremely high quotes to fix the issue...reportedly it is some kind of sensor in the seat that has gone bad. I am worried about having someone ride in the front passenger seat because I do not know whether the airbag would work if I was to have an accident. It is really worrying for me and my family.
