Mazda USA recently refused to pay any cost associated with replacing the engine of my less than 5 year old Mazda. It is obvious that the Mazda defeat in the engine was at fault, TBS-01-013-21

I took my car to a Mazda dealer mechanics for 3 years. The last year and a half I took it to my personal mechanic. Mazda was not interested to see those records.

They claim that their Mazda mechanics might have caught the issue earlier. However, an email or a letter to customers letting the owners know that there could be a potential issue was never sent to me. I think this is irresponsible. I should have been notified about such a defeat.

This was a very expensive family purchase for us. We now had to pay $10K to replace the engine. Mazda USA refused to help. I read many similar cases where Mazda USA paid to have the engine replaced and in other cases paid at least for the labor.

I will make it my goal to constantly tell others that Mazda does not stand behind their product. It is shameful that after only 4 years I had to replace the whole engine at my expense. It's unbelievable. I hope Mazda USA reconsiders and helps with some of the financial cost. Please let me know if there is anything you are willing do to. I am a very disappointed customer. After the work was done by the La Puente Hills dealership, they did not even bother to clean the car.

I just spent $10K and the dealership did not even have the courtesy to return the car back to me cleaned. I was very disappointed. I hope to hear from Mazda USA.

CX-9 GT 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 83,911 miles

Known issues for 2016-2020 CX-9 SKYACTIV-G 2.5T vehicles with VINs lower than JM3TC**422801 (produced before Jun. 9, 2020).

Engineering flaw in engine due to weight of turbocharger that causes warping and stress fractures in the cylinder head resulting in major coolant leak. They know about it and issued a TSB but refuse to do a recall.

Need a new engine at 83k miles.
