The rear brakes make a loud metallic clunk when the car is moved from a stopped position. Forward or backward.

Accompanying the noise is a shock or pulse that shakes the car. It creates the ambiguous illusion that the car ran over something, which is distressing, particularly when going in reverse. I reported this to the dealership in Gladstone OR on 2 occasions and the service rep, WITHOUT EXAMINING THE CAR, claimed that it is normal. That may be "normal" for Mazda and that rep, but it is not acceptable. I have owned 15 vehicles and this is the first vehicle with such loose brake pads that the pads stick, clunk, release and shake the vehicle. "Normal" is no excuse. This one issue raised among 5 recalls and 2 other problems. Car is 7 months old, and <10,000 miles.
