CarComplaints.com Seal Of Pretty Good

CarComplaints.com Notes: The MAZDA6 was redesigned for the 2009 model year. Like any first-year product, it has a few growing pains – most notably a shiny, melting dashboard that can blind the driver.

I just discovered that there had been a recall on the sticky dashboard. How do I get this issue resolved?

On a summer day, I noticed that the dashboard had kind of sticky oil on it on the top of it close to the AC openings. I had to go to an upholster to fix and it still looks ugly.

If and when I put my windows down, whatever blows in my car sticks to the dashboard. I was told from the dealership the recall on the problem was within a certain amount of miles. I was over the amount so I would have to pay out of pocket to have this repair done. It will cost a lot because the hold entire dash needs to be broken down. My dash looks as if it's wet, but it's the glue they used to put this part of the car together. I'm so upset the interior inside my car that of course I had nothing to do with I'm stuck with unless I pay for this is not right.

I have a 2009 Mazda 6 and apparently there was a warranty issued for the Melting Dashboard. I never received anything like that or I would have for sure done whatever I had to do to get that warranty because Mazda is for sure known for their RECALLS!!!! But I never received anything but Mazda says 'I did' of course but then Mazda says they issued an extended warranty but they are sorry it expired 5/19 so I'm just screwed!!!

I would also like to know when they were at my home getting my mail for me and reading it, maybe that's why I didn't get it?!?!?!?! Because someone from Mazda was coming and getting in my mailbox since they seem to know that I received it or not!! Because I NEVER GOT IT!!!! So because I never got the warranty in the mail then I'm just sh*t out of luck..... I'm sorry but that is WRONG!!!

So I am getting ready to buy a new car but I know for sure now it will NOT be a MAZDA!!!! The Mazda just doesn't measure up to my NISSAN at all and that is a fact!!!

IF MAZDA DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO BUILD A CAR WITHOUT IT MELTING, JUST MAYBE THEY SHOULDN'T BE

BUILDING VEHICLES AT ALL!!!!

While my dashboard is melting, you can not touch it, because it will stick to you, and it smells horrible. I would have been thrown out of my moving vehicle since the door just came open while I was driving. I am losing gas, and Mazda is out of parts to fix my vehicle, and imagine this, they have no contact number, but on their website it states customers are first! JOKE.

Melting dashboard after having the vehicle for less than 1 year. Not including the recall for airbag sensor.

The dashboard is melting. I noticed it after having the car detailed inside, but the owner of the car wash told me that the dashboard is melting and it was not from having it detailed. He said his own car an Infiniti has the same problem. It is getting worse. Sticky substance is annoying and is now getting on the windshield, so it can affect visibility. I know there are many people dealing with it and saw on line a law suit, so hopefully, Mazda will do a recall?

We notice the dash melting and actually thought that it was water(window) leaking but it is very sticky when you touch it. The smell is awful and it is getting worse. We have called the dealer and were told that we would have to pay for a new dash. We think that this is wrong and Mazda should have a recall on this.

Update from Jul 20, 2018: Received a letter from Mazda USA stating that they would replace the melting dash. I took the letter and car to Flow Mazda in Fayetteville, NC and car was fixed and I was given a loaner car to drive while they fixed our car.

OK. I just replaced driver seat leather due to its deterioration. Out of warranty so I paid. But now...where nothing ever touches it, the passenger dash above near window is starting to deteriorate about 6 to 8 inches down towards seat. Black, sticky material sticks to your fingers IF you touch!!! What in heck has happened to this material????

I just read your article on the Toyota melting dashboards.

My Mazda 6 is doing the exact same thing.
