C300 4matic Sport 3.5L

I have a 2013 C300 4matic Sport. It was just confirmed by Mercedes that the bearing on the output shaft is bad. My own mechanic said this too. It’s a $40 bearing which Mercedes does not replace. They say you need a new transmission. I have the 722.9 tronic plus in my car and they quoted me $9,400.00 which includes labor. The transmission itself is $7,900.00. I wrote a letter to Mercedes USA in Atlanta and they offered 10% off the cost of a new transmission, which I declined when I told them they should stand by their cars, especially since these transmissions are closed and cannot be opened. They also offered $1500 off a newer C300, which ironically has the same transmission in it.

I was told by a Mercedes tech at Mercedes of Pittsburgh on Baum Ave that this is a design defect with this transmission and the oil doesn’t circulate properly, which causes the bearing to pit. I have read that this has happened to a lot of people and Mercedes refuses to make it a recall.

I will never purchase another Mercedes and will take my business to BMW, Audi or Jaguar. This was my 3rd Mercedes and would’ve probably purchased 4 or 5 more in my time. They have lost a loyal customer and I will make and post my Vlog’s so that everyone knows about this issue and to stay away from Mercedes. Only when they start to lose business will they start to listen to their customers.
