My car has always been regularly serviced, as suggested by Mercedes, and until 2014 always main dealer serviced, since then, serviced at local Bosch Service Centre. While on the motorway, sudden flapping, non metallic noise, engine died almost immediately. Fortunately, no one hit me! Emergency tow truck to Bosch Service Centre. Diagnosis: failed oil pump and motor locked up...camshaft etc ruined, at only 210000Km (131000 miles). Remedy. New engine (170 hp twin turbo diesel). My mechanic states that oil pumps shouldn't fail at that mileage. Mercedes calls me saying that only they can evaluate the damage, and only at their facility. Why can't an inspector go onsight??? Is it so they can charge me 1500 euros and then say, "Oh, sorry. We can't do anything"??? What has happened to Mercedes dependability??? Will I be able to trust Mercedes again? Will I spend a significant amount of money buying another Mercedes again. Probably not!

Update from Jan 24, 2018: A Mercedes benz Rep called me 2 days ago (from the Netherlands). She wanted to know why I didn't take my car to MB service? I responded because their last oil and filter change cost me 536 euros! When I asked her why their claims adjuster couldn't go onsite? she had no answer. Of course I confirmed my lack of faith in Mercedes benz's reliability and that most certainly I will never buy another Mercedes. I continue to doubt that MB will intervene and restore my trust in their vehicles. Has anyone else had a similar situation? Let's get together and start a Class Action against Mercedes Benz. (I'm in the process of contacting "Altroconsumo" for their opinion and they may begin a Class Action). Will keep you updated. Awaiting a new engine, of course, at MY EXPENSE.
