Mercedes uses a fake leather on most of their cars. It seems nice enough at first. But, it started producing small pencil eraser cupping tears on it own. The dealer wouldn't repair under warranty saying it was normal wear and tear (funny). They recommended a private vinyl repair guy. Nice job but did not hold up. It was explained that since the SUV seat was high off of the ground that whenever the driver exited the car it put an extreme pressure on the outboard part of the seat as the driver had to lower him/her self to the street. In essence the left seat bolster was folded downward more extremely than it would be in a lower seat, as in a car.

This is as bad as a dented body part as far as the resale of the car goes. I doubt I will trust another purchase of a mercedes with fake leather.
