this thing was a real pain and very costly, ford knows that there is a problem with the intakes on the ford 4.6 engine, there is a recall on some makes but not on the 1996 grand marquis I have repaired it myself by purchasing an updated aftermarket intake manifold which was better quality then the ford original, bolt on out of box complete with thermostat gaskets and brackets ,manufacturer is Dorman,OE Solutions-Division of R&B Inc part # 615-178 very happy with the ease of the replacement no leaks it pays to shop around for parts you need the dealer wanted 1000.00 for the OE part.
