With only 30,000 miles, the fuel rail assembly corroded through, created a pin hole and sprayed fuel against the hood assembly and over the entire top of the engine. This occurred only 2 days after the vehicle had been repaired by Ford for the safety steering recall. The vehicle was repaired and mechanic mentioned that he has never seen this before and this assembly should not have corroded.

My 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis ls premium car has an unresolved stalling issue. The problem is exacerbated when the car's engine warms up, especially during warmer weather. It tends to stall out at extended stoplights or if the vehicle needs to be stopped within a short distance. My car first began stalling after I had it washed in gasoline station's automatic car wash. Shortly after it was washed, the engine began running extremely rough and then finally stalled out with the 'engine' light on yellow light on the dashboard. The first two master mechanics of two different repair facilities suggested that the engine's PCM was bad and needed to be replaced at a Ford dealership. I took my car to a third repair facility and the mechanic swapped out a used PCM for a 4.6 L application and reprogrammed it for Ford's most recently issued software update. The car continues to stall after the used PCM was reprogrammed and the mechanic concluded that he was sure that the stalling problem is not related to the engine's PCM! I've paid approximately $874 among three different automobile repair facilities and all master mechanics among these three garages could not pinpoint why my vehicle is stalling. Finally, a master mechanic of a volunteer church garage also could not pinpoint why my car continues to stall and he suggests that the only fix is to sell my car. When I called a local Ford dealership to see how they would try to fix it, the service manager explained that they would try to replicate the conditions that made it stall in the first place. I explained that this method was tried by all three repair facilities, all to no avail, and that I am not interested in paying additional fees for future diagnostic tests that cannot pinpoint the failure. To prevent stalling at stoplights, I need to use both the gas and brake pedals at stop lights!

At 110000 miles my engine started to run very ruff, and would die out at an idle, took it to the dealer and was told it has a cracked plastick intake manifold.when I expressed my concern about putting another plastic part back on, I was told they have redesigned the part because of all the problems they have had with the 4.6 ltr engine and the plastic intakes!

Upon readying for stop the vehicle surged forward. I had to put in neutral and wait until the surge discontinued. This has been going on for several months. It has become a incident that happens more often. It is very scary. A had jump happens when I put it back in gear.

On several occasions since I've owned this vehicle (I am original owner) when I step on the brakes hard the engine accelerates. Recently it has gotten worse and I know I'm not touching the accelerator. Today it was so bad the I was standing on the brakes with both feet and burning rubber. I shifted to park and the engine went onto max acceleration. I shut of the engine and restated and found it was still at max acceleration. I shut it off again and waited 30 seconds. When I then restarted it ran normally. Fortunately I was at a stop sign or I think there would have been a collision if in traffic.

My 2006 Grand Marquis original plastic intake manifold developed a crack at the drivers side rear intake bolt area causing it to leak antifreeze. This caused me to have to spend $240 to buy a new dorman replacement and install it. Ford continues to use these cheap plastic manifolds despite losing a class action lawsuit against them for this problem. There will be more of these plastic manifold failing in the near future to be sure. This problem should be addressed by a new class action lawsuit due to Ford continued incompetence as a manufacturer. My car also suffers from a defective eatc air conditioner control that blows air out of the wrong vents and won't activate the ac. Also a bolt broke on the drivers side front seat due to rust. Also the digital compass has quit working. Also had a water leak in the back passenger floor area.
