The contact owns a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the driver side seat fractured and collapsed backward. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle had previous recall repairs done for the same failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 144,000.

Drivers seat leather is torn. When taken to the dealer was informed that it's a manufacturing defect "overstitched" but that it is not covered under the extended warranty. Contacted Ford Motor Company and received a phone call informing me that "they would have to side with the dealership, not to fix the seat"
