Really disappointed to be having problems with what I thought was my dream car. Clutch out at 32,000? I had a Honda that was pushing 150,000 w/ no problems... Not feeling good about my Mini decision!
I just bought a 2009 Mini Cooper S from CarMax last week with 21k miles on it. I drove it less than 400 miles before the clutch become an issue. I took the car to CarMax for warranty work and was told that the dealer would have to do the service. Sure enough, the dealer stated it was not covered under warranty due to normal “wear & tearâ€. Based on all the comments I’ve read on this forum, I am returning the car to CarMax for a full refund since I am not the only one with this same issue. I understand that buying a used car is a “buyer beware†situation but Mini Cooper should be more responsive to a problem that exists for many owners. Mini Cooper is not building a quality product & I will NEVER buy another Mini Cooper.
My clutch gave out on me and dealer says £1700 to fix. I have asked them to take this further up the ladder with mini as I am NOT happy at this problem after only 20,000 miles! I see many others have had an issue with clutch failure at low mileage. Anybody have any luck with Mini paying for it?
Update from Jul 6, 2012: Mini have paid 100% of the costs and 40% of the labour for this early clutch failure! Very grateful as believe my gripe is completely justified. Now need to tackle retrieving all labour costs as believe Mini should pay it all....
