CarComplaints.com Notes: Radiators are still cracking, leaking coolant and destroying transmissions. Which is a shame when you consider that otherwise, this would be a great small pickup truck.

Frontier SE 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission

After about 4 years of good A/C, it finally got to the point where it was not even cold at all. Somehow the A/C refrigerant leaked out, but they have been unable to locate the leak point.

Frontier LE V6

Well, it all started when my heater wasn't working properly.... $600.00 later and a new heater core, problem fixed. That made it easier to drive threw snow and ice storms, a lot easier. That was just the beginning! I was helping a friend move, when all of a sudden I do not have Reverse...WTF. Park the truck, call a friend, and drink a beer and wait. That worked, Reverse magically came back. Not taking any chances the truck goes to the garage. $508.11 I had a new cooling system put in as well as the transmission flushed. Turns out the coolant was leaking into the transmission and contaminating the tranny! Okay, hopefully this works....NOPE, another tranny flush later at $200.00 and $3300.00 more for a new to me used to someone else transmission, my truck finally works like a charm (sigh of relief)!! Hmmmmm.... I'm driving to work and my check engine light comes on. Really!!!! Is there actually something else that can go wrong with this truck?! It is practically brand new!!! "Well of course there is", my mechanic friend tells me as he gives me a hug. "Dear, according to my computer, it seems your Catalytic Converter is bad". WOW. Well I have already spent my income tax return on the tranny and i am officially broke... it will have to wait. Thank you all for listening. Any solutions that will not cost me any more money would be extremely helpful :)
