Vehicle suddenly slammed on brakes by itself, and the car shook violently. (I believe the ABS system activated itself for no apparent reason). Driving approximately 40 mph. Daytime. Clear weather. No traffic around. No obstacles on roadway. Very scary and dangerous. The electronics on this car, in general, are highly unreliable.
I was driving on a surface street at roughly 30 mph with no vehicles in front of, or behind, me and no obstacles on the roadway when my automated braking system slammed my car to a stop in the middle of the street.
While driving my car, highway or side streets, I get a number of different warning lights, all dealing with my tires and braking system. I took my car to the dealership, and was told there is a recall on the ABS. I check my car in for repairs, waited, left and supposing everything was back to normal just to get on the road the next day and get the exact same problem. Took it direct to the dealership, just to find out all they did was just reprogrammed my car to get the lights off. At this point and time, the ser vice department was closed, so I returned the next day, waited for 4 hours just to find out 'it's going to cost me $300-500 and 2 hours ' to repair but they don't have the part. All of this started on Saturday 11/09/2019.
Emergency braking activated on its own after I had the software upgrade at the dealership. The dealership said there was no way to go back in the history and find out why the emergency brakes activated. I was traveling at 45 mph on a sunny day with no cars around my vehicle and nothing in front of my vehicle. Dealership could not replicate the issues and told me that there was nothing else that could be done. They showed me how to turn the feature off. The is no switch so everytime I start the car I have to go through the menu, find the setting and toggle it off.
My Rogue has been brought in 4 times for safety issues. I have contacted Nissan and not getting anywhere. All my sensor lights came on and ABS. My car broke on the freeway going 70 mph to 50 mph. Luckily no one was behind me. That happened in May 2019. I was terrified to drive and used my husband's car. I looked up and they said if ABS lights you should not drive and have it towed because it could start a fire! then it happened again and I was on a side street going 40 mph and it braked to 30 and there wasn't anything in front of me. I don't want to drive this car at all. I want them to just take it back. I drive as a home care nurse for a living and it is not safe when driving is a big part of my job. I have brought ther car in 4 times! not safe!!!!

The automatic braking system came on briefly about a week ago for no reason, while driving approximately 30 mph on a quiet city street. The sensor light came on as well. Since then, it has happened 4 more times, but much worse. Each time I was in motion, at various speeds, but not exceeding 45 mph. Yesterday I was going up a slight incline at approximately 30 mph on a street by my house, and the aeb came on hard. There was nothing in front of me. Visibility was perfect. Only 2 blocks later, it happened again. This time it caused me to hit the steering wheel with my forearm, which is now sore, and a car behind me had to slam on their brakes. Now I am afraid to drive my car, which I just bought in July. I'm wondering how many times this happened before purchasing the car from the dealer.
The automatic brakes activate at any given random moment when there are no other vehicles or impediments to brake on when the car is in motion. This has happened multiple times.
The automatic emergency braking (aeb) system malfunctioned, causing a sudden and abrupt stop for no reason. The vehicle was in motion on a paved secondary street in a line of vehicles in an area undergoing road repair in the opposite lane. We were the first vehicle in line moving straight ahead at approximately 5 mph. My wife and I were thrown forward against the seat belt/shoulder harnesses. No injuries. No collision with the vehicle behind us. The brakes remained locked for a few second before we could move forward.
On four separate occasions while driving especally when in an intersection the self braking system engages and I have had near rear end collisions. One was while going through a green light and today it happend when going over a set of rail road tracks at approx 25 mph. The truck behind me nearly hit me. Pulled into Nissan dealer a mile down the road from where this happened for the software update. This is a clear safety issue putting Nissan owners at great risk of rear end collisions!!!
Radio keeps freezing up, been replaced 3 times & 2 updates to software., front auto braking, light comes on when I have had no wrecks, just randomly slows down. All these have happened during driving. Been in shop more than 8 times in 6 months of owning this car. I have turned videos over to our attorney, he is getting no where with Nissan.
Front end collision avoidance system engaged 5 times when no obstacle in line of travel. Twice in the last 3 days. Vehicle was in motion at various speed ranging from 20 mph to 50 mph. The system engaged braking to full stop in traffic. Thankfully no one was behind my vehicle in any of the occurrences. The system engaged while driving on city streets for four occurrences, in parking garage for the other. Moving ahead in straight direction
While travelling 65 mph on the highway, driving straight. The automatic brake system engaged. I did not come to a complete stop, but it activated and it was quite disconcerting. It was a rainy and misty day.
I entered an intersection moving straight ahead after the light turned green. I was the first person at the intersection so no one was ahead of me. This was at about 5:50am so it was dark. In the middle of the intersection the sensors and lights starting beeping and going off and the automatic emergency breaking kicked in and stopped me in the middle of the intersection. I had just had the car in to the dealership the week before for a software update that was supposed to correct this problem. The dealership tells me they can't do anything to fix it because they can't replicate the problem after they drove it for 25 miles. Nissan refuses to buy the car back.
Nissan rouge 2018 automatic braking gets activated without any reason. I would have ended up with an accident multiple times but luckily nothing happened. 10/19/2019 was worst it stopped in middle of highway. This is huge risk for Nissan rouge drivers
The automatic emergency braking stops suddenly with no objects obstructing the vehicle's path. It happens on low and high speed, also in open or closed spaces. I have been closed to be hit by the car in back several times. This website is asking me when this event happened, but it happens at least 2 or 3 times per week.
I am having a lot of problems with my emergency breaks. Most times, it breaks when there is no vehicle in front of me or behind. It is really dangerous because I almost had an accident twice. I am reporting this to see if there is a way this can be resolved. Thanks
Was driving the vehicle at speed of 45mph and was about to make a left turn at an intersection. The vehicle braked abruptly itself for a while and then the aeb malfunction lights turned on. After the incident, took the vehicle to the nearby Nissan service and reported the problem. The technician reported that some aeb sensor error codes have been diagnosed and the corrections have been applied. Surprised to see that this incident happened for the third time with this vehicle after performing the update fix for the aeb malfunction at a Nissan service center two times prior to this. All three repair invoices attached.
The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Rogue. While driving approximately 35 mph over a construction metal plate on the road, the vehicle stopped and the message "emergency brake system active" was displayed. The contact switched into park and then into drive. The vehicle was taken to kelly Nissan of route 33 (3830 easton nazareth hwy, easton, pa 18045) to be diagnosed, but they were not able to replicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised that the vehicle was included in a "voluntary recall" and she would receive a letter from the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.
