The anti-lock brake system warning light illuminated and was taken to the dealer for service. Dealer diagnosed the ABS hydraulic control unit had failed and needed to be replaced. The control unit was covered by the manufacturer in 1998. Failure of this part could allow the brakes to lock up causing the vehicle to slide out of control.
