While driving at 35 mph vehicle the vehicle overheated and the check engine light illuminated on the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop who determined that the radiator had sprung a leak. The water and coolant from the radiator leaked into the transmission destroying it.

While driving transmission began slipping, a crack was found in the radiator divider between the transmission fluid cooling loop and the radiator water, this ruined the transmission as well as the radiator, the replacement radiator was made with thicker metal, consumer feels it is thoughtless to run transmission fluid through a water-filled radiator knowing that any flaw or crack in the dividing wall between the two elements could ruin the transmission.
