Excessive vibration and grinding noise when applying brakes, vibration is felt throught the steering wheel. Condition has repeated five times, three times the dealer resurfaced the rotors, replacing pads once ( I paid), once rotating the tires ( I paid) and now they are refusing to perform any work (milage). There is a tech service bulletin that states the rotors should be replaced (#00-05-23-002, Feb, 2000).

At 8,654 miles (March 2000), a Pontiac service department replaced all brake pads and resurfaced my rotors. I brought the car into the shop because it was difficult to stop the car when I applied the brakes, and the car would pulsate when the brakes were applied at high speeds.

I bought this vehicle with 13, 000 miles on it. Since I bought this car I have experience problems with my braking systems. While braking sometimes the car seem to not want to stop while braking on a down slope it shakes. I've change my brakes three times since I bought this vehicle. Mossy motor change the brakes and rotors in September, 2000 change the front rotors which were warpped and replaced the rotros and pads per bulleton. I'm still experiencing problems with this. I brought the vehicle back to mossy twice since they change it and they said that they see nothing wrong. However I still experience problems. I ask other folks who own the same type of vehicle theyr are experience the same.. this is dangerous. I am also experience problems with left front and right front windo inop regulators which had to be changed. Battery replacement and still experience problems with that. Back rear lights... this vehicle has had major problems. Please tell me what I can do.

The brakes and rotors have been replaced after approximately 3,000 miles due to warping. We have had the problem fixed 4 times and were told that the last 2 sets of brakes and rotors would fix the problem. We are now in the process of going to arbitration to get out of our lease. We will never buy another GM car again. GM seems to think the problem exists due to our location and the way we drive. After reviewing this page, I see that our problem has affected numberous consumers just like us. How can it be resolved?

Vibration and noise coming from front brakes while turning and when brakes are applied at around 60 mph. Contacted dealer and manufacturer, both stated that it was due to rotors being warped from improper maintenance. Replaced both brake rotors and brake pads resulting in a $463.83 out of pocket expense.

Please recall front brakes unsafe. When the brakes are applied at any speed the steering column shakes and braking distance is increased significantly. In extreem conditions such as wet roads or stop and go traffic traction has been lost due to pulsating brakes. Dealer stated that the pads were worn and that I was responsible. I contested their findings and asked for proof (I.e. pad thicknesses.) the dealer service department gave me the actual pad thicknesses which were well within working range. The dealer service department then stated that the rotors were probably warped probably due to driving in rainy conditions and that I was still responsible for the repairs. I again contested saying that the warped rotors were a result of a material failure, not wearing of the pads or rotors and should therefore be covered under warranty. After more trouble than I care to mention the dealer decided to turn down the front rotors. And the vehical drove fine after that until the rotors warped again. See second failure report.

I bought the Grand Am used which had 280 miles on it. Ever since the date of purchase, I have had nothing but continuous problems. The major problem is the braking system. My car has had approximiatly 8 sets of rotors and 4 sets of brake pads. I have owned the vehicle for 1 year and has only 27900 miles on it. The new design rotors and pads were supposed to correct the brake pulsation, but they have not. I have had about 3 sets of the new design components. Both rear windows have been replaced due to misplaced parts in the window components. I have also had 2 oil leaks on the vehicle, one on the rear seal, the other inside the engine, which required replacing different gaskets under the intake system. The radio was replaced because the play button for the tapes did not work. I have also had molding on the doors of the vehicle replaced due to paint chipping off and warped parts. I am soon going to be getting the 2 front grills replaced due to crome chipping off of them. I would not recommend anyone to purchase a Grand Am. My vehicle is in the repair shop at leat once a month. The reparis are completed at another Pontiac dealer other than where I purchased the car because of their horrible service. I now get serviced at sapaugh GM in herculaneum, mo, who has been wonderful as far as customer service. I owned a Ford product before the purchase of my GM product--I don't know if I'll ever purchase another GM product. Mine has been nothing but headaches.
