This problem is reoccuring and and has caused me to get ticketed for burned out brake lamps twice. Also when I am drving I notice that people with the same car have burned out lamps too. There are two bulbs to the actual brake light itself and they don't burn out at the same time, but, when they do burn out the plastic at the base of the bulb melts on to the contact renedering the bulb useless and also causes damage to the part listed in the report which also means the brake light is not funtional. Another concern was the amount of heat given off by the bulbs are enough to burn someone badly, which also may be the cause of the base of the bulb melting.
