I see these cars have quite the reputation of poor power steering. I recently bought my car and was looking into the pursuit's rebadged brother The Chevrolet Cobalt. Its clear others can relate too. I actually am glad I found this site because I didn't realize how bad this actually was.

I was told my car has had its recall done by its previous owner before i purchased it. My car had been under two highly detailed inspections, Power steering being a concern of mine, but in both outcomes i was told it was in perfect mechanical shape and wouldn't need to worry about anything going wrong anytime soon. however, I've noticed this on maybe 3-4 occasions about a month later, and only when it's blazing hot outside. my car does the same routine everyone else's does. Dashboard lights up, POWER STEERING flashes across the driver information console. Honestly I haven't noticed any change in my steering when it does on each occasion. but it scared the crap out of me when it happens I continue to drive (probably a dumb move, but I don't have much choice) until i reach my destination and it eventually goes away the next day, and doesn't appear until the next blazing hot day (45+ degrees Celcius)

Others have said it could be temperature related and I'm betting with the crowd, as i have not had a problem on much milder days. Though that could be total coincidence too. either way I think GM didn't recall the concerning problem and should really stop dicking around as it seems its obviously quite an issue. I shouldn't feel scared of my own vehicle, but being a full time student with rent, loans, books, insurance, bills all to pay I simply don't have money for this, so it appears I'll have to live with it.

It all started when my power steering went. The chime noise came on, and the notification came on at the bottom, letting me know there was problems with my power steering. At this point, I had not gotten the recall done on my car. So as the message came up on my car, the little car with the lock appeared lit up as well, while I was still driving the car. So about a week and a half later, I take my car to get this recall done. I drove it around town, and had not problems with it. I took it on the highway, and on the way back from my destination, all these lights started to flicker on and off. So fast that I couldn't read them. Then my power steering went again on my car. As I was maintaining a constant speed, my revs started to drop. This didn't happen once or twice, it happened the whole way home. The lock light came on as well. I told the dealership this, and they said it has nothing to do with the recall. They told me they could look at it, but they would have to charge me the price to scan it! NONE of this started to happen until my power steering went!
